If you get a chance you should watch “Legends of The Unwired.” It was a documentary about Nathan Avon “Bodie” Barksdale. He actually came from a family of drug dealers. His brothers were in the game too. Barksdale was also a boxer as well. The Doc to me was tight because they went into a lot of stories that The Wire doesn’t go into. Like for instance, the drug crews would employ cops as hitmen. Some of them cops would also rob other drug dealers. The Wire didn’t go into that because for one a retired LE was a part of the writing staff and two they got permission from the Baltimore Police to depict their PD. Still if it’s the truth it needs to be made known.

On the show, they split Bodie into 2 people...Wood Harris was Avon Barkdsale and JD (i forget his last name) was Bodie. You gotta watch the show, it not sugar coated like a lot of those shows. The real Melvin Williams even had a role on the show, the real person, that Omar was based on, had a role of the show. The only person that was "well known" at the time was Method Man. I watched at least twice a year. The realest show on TV period...only show that come close is Snowfall...

I reside in Baltimore City MD 21215 😅 not Baltimore County there's a big a$$ difference. I can honestly say The Wire depicted the same scenarios you'll find in these Baltimore streets! Tbh it wasn't the residents who were causing the mayhem it was individuals who saw an opportunity looked at the jets potential to become a gold mine and set their plans into motion. Some residents cooperated with the dealers to use their homes as a trap house, stash house, used their kitchens as a lab in exchange for drugs and alot of money. Wonder how it wlda been if crack never was pumped into the communities all over the country. That reality wld have been a whole lot better than how it was back than and now. All the lives lost all the individuals who were sent to prison all the families destroyed countless lives shattered it's really heartbreaking and sad.
