No limit had a legendary run. But in a way they did over saturate the market. And the biggest stars, Soulja slim, c-murder, snoop, either left or was fighting cases, then cash money came for the 99 and 2000 and they ran it up. It was a beautiful time for Louisiana music.

I’ll tell you a story. One day a 13 about to be 14 year old kid was on his way to the mom and pop record store to buy Kane and Abel’s 7 deadly sins album cause “ Gangstafied” was HOT!!!!!!! This kid only had the money for that tape ! Now everybody knows that this particular record store was owned by one of the biggest kingpins in the city. Now this record store was a long way from this kid’s home and the kid was on foot. The kid makes it to the store only to realize another release he had been anticipating had come out on the same day…B legit’s “ hemp museum”. Now the kid only has the money for one tape. What does he do? He developed the bright idea to pay for one and pocket the other. He pays the pretty lady for the one tape , walks out the door with the other tape secured in his dickie pockets ! This is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city, so the kid would normally think nothing of the tires screeching and the vehicle barreling down the road behind him at a really dangerous speed coming directly at him any other day , BUT!!!!!not today, cause everybody knows who owns that red convertible 5.0 on Dayton’s!!!!! The man , the myth, the legend , pulls up right beside the kid and in a fit of a rage ask” did you steal my muthafuckin tape”! Note that normally when someone steals the goal is to keep them in the store where it’s safe and not let them leave. Not this time, this guy waited until the kid was deep in the hood and far away from his store to confront him. The kid, fully aware of how powerful and dangerous this man was, and how dangerous this neighborhood was, had no choice but to hand over one tape and keep one, the kid handed over the b legit tape and kept Kane and Abel , as this kingpin looks around and tells the kid “ I should shoot your muthafuckin ass”! But thankfully he decided to let the kid go! The kid was actually honored! And when the kid came up and started makin money, and tapes became cds , he bought almost every cd he owned from that very same store . True story. “Black Jesus” is still very much my shit . That’s how hot no limit was before the rest of the world knew about them. When was the last time you had to pre order an album before it sold out? Seein young niggas that looked like my cousins and the big dogs in my neighborhood grow to reach that kind of success always made me REALLY proud to be from Louisiana!!! I always knew we were special before anybody started rappin. I just wish so many of the really special, diamonds in the rough type niggas hadn’t died before or during that era cause the world would’ve loved them
