Interesting! I'm on omnipod and love the simplicity of no tubing, can't imagine wanting the perks of a small pod but the downside of still having tubing! Also I'm in the UK where there is a recycling scheme for the pods, so I've never felt less wasteful as a diabetic - all the plastic and packaging for the tubing, cartridges, infusion sites and inserter on my last tubed pump vastly exceeds the little slimline omnipod packaging.

They got the approval and are doing the soft rollout this fall and expect the full release early next year. And we were paying $1000 for a box of 10 Omnipods. It’s why we finally switched to the tandem because I had no insurance on my son back then. Before Obamacare. So we paid $100 each pod in 2012! Big dif between and $25 and $100 each.

One of the main benefits I can think of that Gary didn’t mention is the ability to change infusion set types. I really like that I would be able to use TruSteel or autosoft sets, depending on what works better for me in certain areas. I moved to the x2 from omnipod because the angled plastic cannulas on the pods were not jiving with my body, but there was no alternative for the cannula.

That is our situation too. My son is allergic to Omnipod’s cannula. If Omnipod would have this we would stay or my ideal would be the DIY loop via the Dash

I left Tandem last week after 6 years with them. I moved to the Omnipod and could not be happier. Though Omnipod has its own issues, the cons of the x2 outweigh the cons of the Pod. X2 constantly alerts even if you acknowledge the alert. The x3 is way behind schedule. Imagine being told you can upgrade to the x2, the same pump I was using and when x3 is available I can spend 1000 dollars to upgrade early. Also Tandem won’t have a tubeless pump until to 2027.

Which one would work better for someone that’s legally blind and elderly and lives alone the Omnipod five or the mobi

My son has used both Tandem and Omnipod. The omipod was always falling off. Had a lot of weight and they were expensive like crazy because all the electronics are replaced completely with each pod change, where the tandem x2 and mobi have the electronics permanently in the unit and just insert a new insulin fill. Huge difference from a cost perspective.

Promo says it hold 200 units How long will that last for basal dosing. What is the minimum amount required for use.

minimum is 80 I think. everyone's basal Is different so difficult to answer your first question. My OmniPod has 200 units and lasts me up to 80 hours.

Can't wait to try the "Direct to Watch" feature, but I think it will work exclusively for patients on MDI because the CGM simply can't be connected to two devices simultaneously. Potentially it could "switch" between iPhone and Apple Watch just like the AirPods (or any other headphones) do. 🤔

Or, potentially, the Dexcom's Apple Watch app will be sending glucose values simply syncing with the iPhone app and vice-versa. That'd be cool!
