How can we secure BYOD? Can companies use MDM to manage personal devices? I wouldn't want to have a corporation controlling what can happen on my phone.

It's very common for companies to use their MDM to manage a partition of data on your personal mobile device.

That is what the MDM is for. It will separate the personal data and the company data. So when it does the remote wipe it will erase the company part of the phone.
