@@kiminohio3375 There is much better equipment availible. They are small tracked buggies with a lift on them. The put one under each end, lift it up, and can easily move a home around in any direction, includine sideways.

Every time I see a wood turning video I am told that you have to seal the ends to stop cracking, and when they are doing firewood you have to leave it a couple of years before you can burn it. My point is why not let it dry and crack and then it does half the job for you without any back trouble. And splitting all that wood by hand would definitely knacker my back.
@JimDockrellWatertone

I splits good green, even better frozen and green. Not an easy day either way though..lol. It also seasons better split. Left in the round it goes all punky in the middle. The hardest part is the bending and picking it up.

you did good filming this, Does the Mobile home mover do everything like removing the skirting and/or porch? or do you have to hire someone else to remove the extra stuff, and the mover just has to move the mobile home to your place?
@JimDockrellWatertone
@JimDockrellWatertone 4 жыл бұрын
This was a new unit, never had any skirting on it to start. I imagine you could DIY skirting/porch removal or hire it out. Either way, nothing comes for free....lol. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I dont think it should sink as long as its balanced on the footers correctly right ?
@JimDockrellWatertone
@JimDockrellWatertone 5 жыл бұрын
Correct. For some reason they put in the sand to level the ground under the unit. The concrete footers go well below the frost line....see my video "Hydro drilling" where they are preparing for the footers before the fill went in.

Why on earth they didn't pour a concrete slab for that to sit on is mind boggling. The park I live in does it for all the homes they bring in. The foundation on this one is weak and will only lead to the mobile home becoming un-level.
@JimDockrellWatertone
@JimDockrellWatertone 7 жыл бұрын
There are 14 frost line footers installed that the home sits on. It does not sit on the gravel at all. But yeah, if it were me I would want a concrete slab so it's easier to work under it.
@joeyschoonover7283

Are you kidding me, this fresh gravel, not even packed down. Have to bring someone every month to re-level the trailer. It is going to sink big time.
@JimDockrellWatertone
@JimDockrellWatertone 6 жыл бұрын
There are frost line footers going down 3 ft + into solid ground before the gravel was added. See my video on Hydro drilling for that. The gravel was added because of a dumb requirement the town wanted.

I have been setting mobile homes for twenty years in Mississippi and up the east coast. We set them on red clay mounds with single and double block piers with 16×16 pads the home's don't settle as much as people think. I also do relevels and the home's are rarely out more than a inch or two over a 80 foot span unless water flows under the house
@hotlatino7220
@hotlatino7220 3 жыл бұрын
That's the wrong way to build a base pad. You build a base path for the six inches thick all the way through and let the blocks make up the difference
@JimDockrellWatertone

There was lots wrong with the method. Glad it's not my home, or my work.

Wouldn’t want my home on that aggregate base.. look how wheels are digging in. I would pour concrete, which not only gives u a solid base but no rodents can permeate crawl space.
@JimDockrellWatertone
@JimDockrellWatertone 3 жыл бұрын
That home sits on concrete piers 4' below the natural grade. Although they did make the mistake of shimming it level with softwood. The town insisted the grade be raised under the home for that lot. If I were to install a mobile home myself I would go with a concrete pad under it too.

Why in the world would they put it on top of dense grade like that? All its gonna do is sink and shift and destroy this home. Be better on top of the bare ground or better yet on concrete footers like they do here in the states.

@@izmark671 Yes, I know of Straubel's venture. They have not figured out anything yet but how to take used cells apart and sell the pieces on foreign commodity markets. It'll be at least a decade before any concrete info concerning percentages of recyclability of Li-ion cells is attained. And the forecast is bleak, 30 percent is a dream number, what are they going to do with the remaining 75 percent of toxic waste left over? What about all the environmental detriment of mining for new lithium? All those inefficient internal combustion engines clanking and smoking away in massive heavy equipment while scarring the planet must not figure into the feel good commercials for E/Vs and their eco friendliness.
