Just a little advice from someone who has learned from past mistakes. I suggest replacing the radiator hoses when changing out the radiator saves possible headaches down the line. If the hoses were in decent shape, hang on to them and you have spares for an emergency on the side of the road. I understand that cash is always a concern but time is money also and it's a good insurance against a future headache. 👍

I did this swap in an hour and a half today, you only need to remove the black plastic above the grill and seperate the fan and air con rad, they all lift out that gap fine

Yea its an easy job no matter which way you do but your way was about 30 mins faster

I’ve done a few of there just remove the plastic cover that’s on the top of the bumper the hood latch cover then the bracket abover radiator unbolt it take off hoses etc then just yank it up. Saves u time and wil make it to where u do an almost 6 hr job in 2-3 hrs meaning u get paid for 6 hrs in 3 hrs and go to next job and make more money semper fi devil dog 👨🏻‍🔧

Alan if you do this work again on a 17-22 Sportage could you record that process? I was just told today that my radiator is bent and that the dealership will cover it if I have a leak in the next 15k miles. They also confirmed that it's no fault of mine, no damage underneath just a bad design or more prevalent in cold weather states (the tech said he used to work for Kia in FL and never saw them but sees them more often up north.) if I don't have a leak until after later I will be out of powertrain warranty (100k miles.) Of course they still went ahead and asked if I'd rather get it out of the way sooner and quoted the radiator part at $660, which is absurd. Otherwise, do you know if anyone else has recorded replacing via hood latch cover removal?

@Alan 918 mobile mechanic thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I see some radiators with the part number Kia provided down to 145 shipped on ebay. There's a good chance you will see one come through again for this issue on a 17 or 18. I would greatly appreciate it if you are able to help the rest of us with that faster process. I would much rather do that than potentially pay 1k at the dealership.

Hello Thomas how are you doing ? Good Video, I worked at a gas station in the late 70's and enjoyed working on the cars back then they were easier to work on you didn't have to take off the front bumper to change out the radiator. Back then we would take the radiator to the radiator shop and they would rebuild them. Also the cars didn't have all the computers and emission bull crap so when you opened the hood only the engine was in there not all that other crap. 🤣🤣🤣

That's a fact. Cars these days are such a pain to work on. It seems Ford is especially bad now. Have to disassemble half the engine to replace some tiny nothing part.

Perfect, a deer decided to go 1-vs-1 with me this morning on the way to work in my 2020 Sportage. Smashed my radiator and the surrounding infrastructure pretty good. So I will need to know how to do this once the replacement parts arrive

You need a better Table to work with and put the parts you take off on that table and be able to work on that table at a good height so its easier on your back n stuff, That's my next buy a nice mid height foldable work table. Hope your week is going good bro.
