Ohhhhhh! I just LOVE watching these comparison videos! And be seriously, the two gimbal look a bit similar, but the interface is really different. I personally like the SMOOTH Q4 with the extension pole and light design, and the OM5 with the ability to adjust the focus without using the app also makes me excited. Some battle to promote the continuous innovation and progress of two different companies, there is competition to have more gains. Thanks for the review 👍🏼 I do have a few questions. I’ve been using the DJi OM5. I like it but I find the screen fonts way too small when I use it w my iPhone 13pro - especially when my arm is extended or I’m using the extension rod. (I occasionally use reading glasses but I never need them when I’m typically using other apps on my iPhone but w the DJi I really struggle so it makes filming extra difficult if I have to use my reading glasses). Are the screen fonts any bigger on this new Zhiyun? Also, how about the overall weight/size differences? Thanks again! 🎞

@WnJ - I'm new to using Gimbals, the DJI OM5 is my first and I actually searched to see if it was a known problem. I have the iPhone 11 and I find using 4k 30fps heats up my iPhone, so much that my phone shutdown to protect itself while I was filming a week ago. I'm debating returning the DJI, but wanted to see if all gimbals heat up iPhones.

I have DJI OM4 which I am just beginning to learn how to use ... but was considering upgrading to OM5 for the extension (and have someone who wants my OM4) ... and THEN watched your Smooth 5 vs OM5. The Smooth 5 is on its way, but I just ordered this Q4 and will return the Smooth 5. I think at my current level/budget the Q4 is best option/price for me. Thanks again for a very helpful video. FWIW, I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max ... no add'l lenses or filters yet.

For me OM4 is better then both of these gimballs. More robust, way longer battery life, and handle is much more ergonomic

I have the S22 Ultra and it seems to cope fine. I even use it with an external microphone which plugs into the usbc port and as long as the cable is long enough it seems to handle it well

Still love my OM3. In fact, I bought the OM6 and hated it. The OM3 is much quicker to set up. The magnetic phone clamp gimmick ruins the user experience with the OM4/5/6 for me.

Fantastic review, thanks! Quick question: Can the gimbal pan the phone physically 180°, so if filming with the back camera, spin around to do a selfie reaction? I had to return an OM 5 because the phone+case was slipping out of the clamp. Does the Smooth Q4 hold thicker cases, like the Otterbox Defender ? Can the clamp be modified in any way, or is there any clamp attachment to hold thicker cases?

For smooth Q4, you can use some phone cases to carry, but not suggest using Silicone Case.

Watching all these gimbal videos, I noticed that most of them only talk about possibilities, construction, etc., which is all the same. And they forget about one important according to for me. Is the battery in the gimbal replaceable. This is rarely talked about. And I would like to know if it is possible to replace the battery. Because maybe 2 or 3 years will pass and the battery is already too weak and then what? Put in the trash or buy a new one. And so much is said about ecology. And you can simply replace the battery with a new one.

if you're talking about the ZY Cami app, none of the apps which come with gimbals work too well on Android devices. The Mimo app is probably the best app, but it still works less well on Androids

More of the same, we still need a gimbal that balances easy like this, but can also take a payload of around 350-400gms Iphone 13 pro max, smallrig cage with Anamorphic lens and filter, the gimbal manufactures just don’t seem interested, both the M3 and M2S had so much potential but still fall short. 🤷‍♂️

smooth q3 just disappointing. my phone can't do tilt down to up perfectly (90 degree on lock mode) always back to 70 ~80 degrees. some people say, that normal for gimbal. many reviews with millions followers doesn't talk about that issues 😩😩😩

For a gimbal that's released a year after the OM5 the Q4 looks doesn't seem to offer much more. In fact it looks like a direct rip-off as was probably manufactured in the same factory.

The extension rod and fill light seem to be invented by Zhiyun, and the folding method seems to be another invented by another brand , It seems that only the magnetic phone clip is from DJI.
