Hi there This is a very good video. I like the way you get straight I it and explain everything in a concise ways. The only way it could be improved would be to link to everything you need in the description. Then I could buy everything and do the repair while watching. But well done on a very good video.

Do the A2442 display have a serial# somewhere when you removed the panel?

The failure of 14" (A2442) and 16" screens is too frequent and independent of good care of the equipment - it is not a failure caused by user carelessness: Apple should be required to provide a free replacement program worldwide.

Question, where would I find the stencil, solder paste, and adhesive? I think I could do this but need those items.
Is this model impossible to repair if the DP855A chip is damaged? During repair, it accidentally caused an internal short circuit in the chip, which made the original DP855A chip unusable. The DP855A chip was available in China, but unless it is a DP855A chip extracted from the A2442 model, nothing is displayed on the screen. (Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to extract the serial from the DP855A chip or reprogram the serial.)

@A2000MHz Жыл бұрын
This type of job is not for the beginner. If you have never worked on surface mount, let alone micro BGA, you need a few months practice before attempting this repair. You can change the LCD panel at home but find a shop that does microsoldering to change the chips for you!

@@Apple-maintenance-engineer Really? I am searching more informations, and I did not see anyone talking about or showing this type of replacement without to replace the chips. thanks

No dust between LCD and backlight?
@leoarjuncrasto2 ай бұрын
Hi, Derek I asked my repair guy that separating the panel from the back light and repairing and resoldering the ICs. He told me that doing this will lead to complete loss of water resistance and that even a little water may lead to damage. Is this true??? Please advise
@MobileSentrix2 ай бұрын
MacBook's don't have water resistance at all. Apple doesn't test them for that let alone claim it. Any amount of water on a MacBook regardless if its been worked on or not is potentially dangerous.

Amazing video! I'm about to do this repair on a second hand A2442 I bought near me for only $600 CAD! I've never done any hot air soldering but I'm an electrician by trade and have been wanting to get into the small stuff for so long; the clear instructions and filming of this video gave me the confidence to pull the trigger on the tools and parts I needed! I'll update in a few weeks when the display arrives either super happy or very frustrated lmao. One thing though- what's with the double post on the other channel? It was posted on the same date but instead includes a very detailed description I wish this one had tbh. "FIXD I Repair" posted "MacBook Pro LCD Display Repair: Bring Back Brilliance!" on Nov 14, 2023: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2GQq5ZvismCj7c
