Why have virtually every laptop manufacturer (including Dell with these two models) done away with the PgUp, PgDn, Home and End keys? Yes, I know you can get them with the FN modifier, but what a pain! These keys are very highly used by coders and document editors alike.

I've got 15 inch inspiron 7000 2 in 1. initially had some driver issues... now absolutely love it. I can leave it on hibernation for weeks as I prefer leaving tons of chrome tabs on.. wasn't the case prior driver update..

I got the Dell Inspiron 5000 with an i5 and 128gb ssd and 4mb of ram. It was on sale at Office Depot for $399. I will probably upgrade the ram to 8mb for $38. It I want to go from 128GB SSD to 256BG I am looking at another $99. All in all I think I got a great bang for my buck!

I went with the Latitude 7370 for the full carbon fiber package, better keyboard, and 3 year warranty standard. The M5 is plenty quick for my needs as well.

I agree with you. I don't think there is any reason for having a USB 2.0 ports now. But i appreciate the Inspiron for having the hdmi port that I wish the XPS has. I don't really need higher resolution nor touch screen. I'd rather have the higher battery. But I really love the all-aluminum on the Inspiron.

If price isn't an issue go for the xps. Matte screen version of course unless you truly need touch. It is lighter and has a much longer battery life. If money is an issue get the inspiron 13. Still a good laptop for the price and even more so when you factor in the student discount at bestbuy. It retails for 750 but goes on sale for around 100 bucks off and then you can stack your student discount of 150. I picked one up just because it's a great deal for 500 bucks pre-tax.

Got a Yoga 12" for 2 years now and - just my personal opinion - the flip feature is completely overrated. Next time I get a traditional notebook or something with a true tablet mode like Surface Pro or Book.

Both look great but the XPS is better if you can afford it. Seeing the XPS in person it is really light and portable and perfect if you are on the go, an easy choice. I also like the matte display, and the QHD plus is great so win for XPS. The XPS can charge from USB-C battery packs which for on the go is brilliant and another win. None are deal breakers so yes it's about budget. Nice video covered everything.

good review except one glaring omission for me- the XPS did not have an HDMI port and you did not point that out!. I hate adaptors (carrying them, loosing them, and clumsy connections) and lack of ports, - especially using a small physical port (usb-c 3.1) to adapt to a larger cable (HDMI) as the weight of cable and connector pulls the cable out. Ditto on lack of ethernet port, but since every manufacturer seems to want to emulate apple mac air which killed ethernet and other ports this seems to be a bad trend for all of them. yes I understand someday we will be able to survive on next gen wifi and usb-c 3.1, but that is not today for many of us! (at least most manufactures recognize that mini and micro hdmi can't go away soon enough).

great review. in long stress tests/benchmarks, did you notice any better head dissipation from the Inspiron? I have an XPS 13 early 2015, and as soon as I stress the CPU and GPU at the same time, the computer chokes a bit, and downpowers the watts limit of the CPU leading to aggresive speed limits. I would expect the additional chasis space in the inspiron, should allow better ventilation and head dissipation.

You're right, the Inspiron has room for more heat dissipation, and the bottom is cooler to the touch as a result. But our Skylake XPS 13 doesn't have a significant throttling issue so it can keep up with the Inspiron.

There's not really much of a difference if you're planning to use it just for normal tasks and basic gaming. I7 are best reserved for power users and workstations in my opinion.

MobileTechReview its a very common issue on forums that dell has yet to fix via bios or driver fix, try scrolling down with two fingers on a page with ie or chrome, the page will jump when u lift the fingers after scrolling

Dell XPS 13 (non-touch) or Samsung Notebook 9 13.3? I know Lisa did a review comparing both several months back and I'm inclined towards the Samsung, but I don't see a lot of recent reviews on it and Samsung appears to be screening their reviews on their website (only 10 reviews, all positive, the most recent from a month ago). I feel like something shady is going on with the Samsung, they haven't really invested in marketing it and I wonder why. Best Buy had the 9 spin (2 in 1) in their store and the keyboard and track-pad were horrible so I'm worried the non spin will have the same crappy combo. Anyone have the Samsung Notebook 9 13.3 and doesn't work with Samsung can tell me their experience?

dell have said their xps line wont support external gpu. it requires bios and firmware work, so no you cant. i read somewhere some people have got it to work somehow, but it is patchy and not official. so i wouldnt buy it expecting it to be capable of doing that. the only surefire way is getting the razer stealth to go with the core, in the same class of laptop.
