I noticed the same thing. But I think it’s because things such as laptops are not things one buys as often as other tech products. So combination of our search on google and KZbin algorithm we are less likely to see videos of laptop reviews. 😅 just my speculation though.

This laptop was made for me. I hate the over the top designs of gaming laptops and the thickness. I wanted something slim and light that I could travel with, game occasionally, and didn't look like a gaming laptop. If I were to build a custom laptop, this is what I'd build. I don't need the best components because gaming is a secondary priority. Perfect

I just received the (2024) G14 with 4060. It plays everything I have thrown at it at highest levels without problems. Awesome screen with super slim bezels, comfortable RGB keyboard, thin and light.... It has exceeded my expectations. Initially, I didn't think I would like the silver with white keyboard but it's actually quite elegant.

@@ainhoaitzacasero8460 I use headphones, so I don’t hear any fan noise. One time, I took my headphones off just to listen and didn’t hear anything, probably because the GPU wasn’t working hard at that time.

While it resists fingerprints, it can get marred by friction from being carried in a backpack. Some Windex and a rag buffed the marks away, but still I will get a protective sleeve to travel with it.

Just a note on variants. Here in Czech Republic (eastern europe) they sell only 32 gb models. From 4050 to 4070 and the price difference between those is .. BIG... 4050 starts at 1900€ (VAT included) to 2800€ for 4070. Also 4050 has a different processor. It actually is ryzen 7 8845hs vs 8945hs in 4060 and 4070 model.

I actually prefer glossy displays. Those matts displays look and feel so cheap and plasticky to me... if they were at least made of glass but with a matte coating maybe I'd think different. screens look so much more quality, solid and premium on smartphones, tablets, MacBooks, iPads, etc.

Your review couvered a couple more details than other KZbinrs, you're very thorough with them, always helpful when someone is actually considering buying the product. Just a little question, does this G14 have that feature where the usb ports charge other devices even when the laptop is off? Lenovos and XPSs have it and it's really helpful to not need to carry a powerbank

Get stuff done at home in the morning, then leave on the afternoon to meet a client, then at night decompress with a game session back at home. All with the same device, so it's been 6 months and I've been enjoying it so far!

I think this will be the replacement to my 2020 MSI prestige 14 which now has a broken hinge, bad battery and a few hot spots on the screen. It did last 4 years as my daily driver and traveled around the world with me, so kudos to MSI for that. Hopefully this G14 will also last that long 👍🏼👍🏼

To be honest i don't really notice anything. But I don't do ram intensive stuff. If I were you though I'd go with something else seeing as you can't update the ram on this g14.

@@squishy7880 yeah I love the OLED screen. I mostly stream KZbin and do light work. Sometimes I play Witcher 3, cyberpunk and red dead. Medium/high settings no ray tracing, for all 3 , so I can stay above 60fps. Otherwise it struggles a bit.

You can on both, but simply put, apple is not designed or leaning towards gaming. If you play triple A games. Windows is usually best bet.

Im a recent owner of the new G14 2024 and i must say the laptop is great if you're willing to have it plugged in at all times, but the battery life is horrendous and definetly does not last anywhere close to 9+ hrs. This Laptop more realistically last 4-5 hrs at best watching youtube videos Unfortunately :(

Heat pipes *literally* take the heat from the source to the point of dissipation. They do little to impact the thermals of any adjacent component. If they did, they wouldn't be very good heat pipes.

@@tim3172 Ok but think of it this way. turn the unit right side up - where are the heat pipes? Beneath the motherboard right? So - where does all that heat go - It rises to the mother board and dissipates and if there are any heat sensitive chips on the top because most likely its a double sided circuit board they'll take a hit - All I'm trying to say here is you cant squeeze more power into a lap top because of this. Go and look on how many gaming laptops Northridge Fix has done here on youtube - Alex has more burned out units that are a no fix because of CPU failure...

I ordered one that's supposed to arrive tomorrow that I bought for a bit less than $1,300, looking forward to it!! It's an open-box one though in excellent condition, so let's hope for the best... I assume this either means I get lucky and someone just didn't like it or something and I get a good deal, or there was a defect, I really hope it's not the latter. If anyone has any Best Buy open-box experience do let me know. Will be a really good deal though if it does end up being like new with no defects.

@@EminiMagic Yes, I've been using it for a few days now! I seem to have gotten lucky, the laptop and charger appeared untouched! The person who had it before seemed to just break the seal, unwrap the laptop box, and then not do much more if anything. The comment on the box said the customer said the laptop didn't have what he was looking for - great for me, as it saved me $170 :D

Very pretty laptop. Weird that it doesn't tilt more and no gap from the bottom. Other than those gripes it a beaut! Black still but would have leaned toward the alum build if the logo wasnt on the cover. Slash is pretty fine. I find the logo stamp corny lol

Too expensive for a device that has an upper limit of 8GB of VRAM. This is already a problem with max textures in some games and will only be worse in the next few years. I hate the term future proofing, but having a GPU with 12GB of VRAM is necessary for the future AAA games. Also, for ML/AI hobbyists, it's convenient to have more memory.

Most of us average consumers buy an ultrabook sensibly, which is what we need or need with headroom. It is a straightforward philosophy. Pros and semi-pros will max out from day one and still may have to buy a newer model in 3+ years as they need faster performance.

Getting higher end graphics cards in laptops is usually pretty pointless. With the much lower power available to any GPU, it is not really going to add much performance. Save the money and get something more reasonable.

@@fmulleady You are judging a 4080 vs a 3080. They are vastly different platforms. I should have been more clear though. I was talking in putting a 4090 in a laptop instead of a 4070. Sure, it will do better, but it will be FAR less than a desktop version of that 4090. The Desktop 4070 will likely outperform the 4090 laptop because it cannot provide enough power to fully use that chip. Sort of like putting a Big 5.0L V8 on a garden tractor. It is probably going to be a waste of horsepower.

Don;t like these laptops getting so hot to the touch anywhere, sorry, The macbook pro's manage not to have that problem. My Mi macbook pro has never got more than luke warm, plugged in or on battery. My levono yoga pro 9i is pretty good, but heavy load on batter it gets hot. i will probably end of keeping my mac. although some of the machines have better keyboards and touchscreens. JUST DO NOT LIKE THAT HEAR

my biggest issues is the completely on board ram the rest of it is good but I would never buy it cuz of that and especially how much they up charge for the ram. Also OLED (burn in, less bright, and glare) I am not conformable for having for a laptop I will try to keep years.

I'm afraid that those of you reading my comment are not going to get the reliability out of these units North Ridge Fix Located in California cant find half the time the controller chips due to manufacturing. Asus / HP / Alien Ware / Are also bad investments . The problem is the heat that these units generate - the circuitry cant handle it - So Be buyer aware and Make sure you take out the maximum Warranty you can get your hands on or you'll be wasting your money Gaming PC's should be done on Desktop units - not these small units ...

You realize that heat doesn't cause electronics to fail, right? The reason electronics fail is due to excessive amperage being sent through them, degrading the copper traces. It doesn't matter if too much amperage is sent through them at 40c or 100c. You're conflating the effect (thing runs otter because it uses more power and thus outputs more heat) with the cause (excessive power). As long as you're not overclocking, the temperature is irrelevant. (That's why a liquid-cooled CPU can fail instantly from overclocking.)

Please do not judge that grades Samsung electronic and LG electronics would be similar because both are Korean company. The only thing same both companies is Korean maker. But they are 180 degree different grade conpanies Gram is kind of a little lighter trash which are made by a big trash company I'm Korean and who is using Sansung Notebook and gram currently. So I can say I know both LG's and Samsung's Client service better than anybody else. In case of Samsung electronics, they are supporting and serve the world's best service impressively to all of their users in every circumstance. However, In case of LG Electronics they are supporting the world's worst service negatively to all of their users in every circumstance. So LG electronics is kind of trash and the world's worst company If there is anyone who has doubt for above, please call client service of both Samsung and LG respectively. In case of Samsung's expert will receive your phone call in a few minutes. However, In case of LG, the receiver who doesn't know anything about their product even simple one. For example their product specification such as capacity of built-in battery of Gram This means LG has no any Data in their system Then they are always, will just tell you that expert will call you back tommorow. Then, you would be aware main and big difference between them. I'm saying only about Cutomer call service, As very usual, we can be aware 100 things for them, if we see simple one as a sample. but you will be in a bad circumstance if you buy the trash in the future. After you be aware this, I'm sure that you will not watch LG's products anymore If you cannot believe what I'm saying above, Then you may buy LG electronics's trash products and will be aware soon what I'm saying above. With a such bad product, gram is expensive a more or less 4-500USD than Samsung,s Gallaxybook for simillar specigocation My above explanations are based on my bad and LG's durty action. Of cause I have all of the history in a MS word file in Korean.
