Thanks for the review, not many MTB reviews for this out there. I have one of these for each wrist and agree completely with your assessment. Expensive but totally worth the price.

Thanks for this review--I had scaphoid surgery about five years ago and now have some mild osteoarthritis starting. Thinking this will get me back on the bike. My issue has been on my road bike with repetitive vibration and the wrist in ulnar deviation (hands sweep out from midline) when on the hoods. Thinking my future lies in MTB. Thanks again!

Thanks I use mine while riding my steal gravel bike as well and while can’t speak on how it’ll feel on the hoods as I have flat bars it helps a ton with the vibration. Hope you’re able to get back out there

I have the exact same injury the pin and bone graft in scaphoid, though my hand sits at a wonky angle due to how they set it in a cast, im on recovery now with physio and have been looking at this.

I really like mine a lot I’ve been wearing it for snowboarding under a mitten. I’m about a year out of surgery and I’ve been able to adjust to have more movement but not so much it’s ever painful

Not many mtb reviews of the X8. Im in "recovery mode" with a severely jammed wrist after a big spill 5 weeks ago. Can't wait to get back on the trails with this brace! Awesome how Josie follows the trail out front like she does too! Paint Up! Thanks for the review! Thoughts on sizing?

Thanks! I’m still limited on mobility in my wrist so the x8 has been great. Hope you heal up quick so you can get back out there!

Ideally even with the brace you don’t want to be catching yourself with your hands, correct?

Correct you still don’t want to brace for impact with your arm’s extended but if you did the brace offers quite a bit of protection, I even use mine under my mits while snowboarding

Is your wrist pretty stable with right/left movement?

Yes it’s very stable side to side, more than you’d think looking at it but the adjustment screw on top will allow you to stop almost all movement.

Anyone had their insurance cover one of these?

I bought mine on Amazon but I later found they have a medical section on their website that says they can be ordered through hanger clinics or medequip. I think it depends if your insurance provider works with those distributors
