I totally agree with you Andy. It seems that every single brushless whoop out now it "The BEST EVER!" The reality is that most of them are best for different types of flying situations. Each one has its Pro and Cons and the best would be to have them all, chop 'em up and use the best components from each or just order each component (but I like having extra parts). Even then, that one still won't be "the best". Anyway, great review!

Just to point out the FRsky EU-LBT version is not an EU-LBT SPI built in receiver in the board, they simply turn off smart audio and wire in a full XM+ which seems a bit pointless if you can't outrange the video. I may just bind mine in D8 mode and take out the XM+ so I can use smartaudio as there is no benefit if the video range is shorter than the control range even with the built in receiver. Having said this is a great little quad and I like it because I can fly it in my local park and not worry about people, no one seems to care and it's so small and looks so toyish and its quiet so it's not intimidating to anyone and it won't hurt anyone. That is by far the biggest benefit with this.

MxJavice .... Thanks, this info helped alot. Do you know what the difference is between eu and not eu? I don't quite understand the diffetence. And is there a way to have both eu and us firmware on the tarranis?
@MxJavice6 жыл бұрын
@@SOLARFPV You cannot have both FCC (US) and EU Firmware on the Taranis. You must Choose one or the other. Your firmware on quad receivers must match this. So you cannot run EU-LBT firmware on the Taranis and FCC on a quad, it will not bind. You must run either EU-LBT or FCC on both the Taranis and the Quad. EU regulations require that products in the EU ship with EU-LBT firmware but it's not a requirement to run it as EU-LBT. The only exception to this rule is in D8 mode where you may be able to run D8 mode with certain receivers but you need to flash the Taranis firmware to make this available if your running EU-LBT. Good explaination on it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWbboaRrqc5ofc0

Understand what you are saying but that flew exactly like a micro outside. A pretty impressive feat for a whoop. Realistically these are for large indoor spaces where they become a whole new class. These are not for beginners. They are an intermediate + ability. Fairly harsh comparing it to something that does fly indoor tight spaces very well. If I was in the house Id pick up the ur65 but if I'm in a sports hall/warehouse Im going to pick up the mobula or betafpv 2s everytime.

nah a three inch can reach 114mph outside. my problem with these outdoor whoops not what is their purpose. its why now? its winter. i need something for indoors.

@@AndyRCchannel totally agree but it depends on what your space is and where you are in the world! I get if you can fly outside why wouldn't you pickup a 3 inch over a whoop but I like this asks questions no one has asked before. Would I fly a 3 inch in a medium/large garden. Definitely not but I'd fly one of these. It's like a tiny whoop that crosses into outside. It doesn't necessarily do either perfectly.

Everyone wants to be sensationalist these days, everything is a "game changer!" My favorite whoop right now is the UR65, mostly because the frame on the UK/US65 break more easily in hard crashes, but I do wish it had smart audio like those. Replace your US/UK65 frame with the URUAV frame and you've got the best of both worlds. The Tinyhawk looks great, but the 65mm size is really my favorite for indoors. If I got something Tinyhawk sized, I'd rather it be 2S.

Great video 👍🏻 You mentioned the video transmitter was good for only about 100m. Do you have any recommendations on replacing it to a different video transmitter that is still very light with little current? Also how was the range using say a QX 7 transmitter? Would it be also worth changing out the receiver to say a R-XSR for further control range?
@AndyRCchannel5 жыл бұрын
these are not built for range they are for flying in small spaces. the receiver is built in, you can swap it to the spare uart in fact i believe thats what they do with the lbt version but you lose smart audio function. the camera is an all in one so its a VTX and camera in one. there are plenty out there and I have seen them peform better but most likely the lack or range is not down to the vtx itself but more down to the fact that we are asking a lot from this copter power wise and it is being sapped up by all the other components

It’s my number one of the whoops for the season this year because of price, 1&2S capability, beeper, adjustable camera angle, turtle mode”that works” and I can use my old lipos from 1s to 260s to probably 2s 300mah if I were to mod it. Andy; if you have time, I have a bit of an issue with my M7. I have an EULBT QX7, with an irangeX module also. I got the M7 later on last year, but haven't flown much since then, and am trying to get back into it now. Issue i have is that I ended up being able to bind in D8 only, so don't have full telemetry (as I understand it.) That isn't an issue, as long as I can get a live battery reading so that I can land in time, but this is causing issues. Only telemetry items coming through are RSSI (which seems real), A1 and A2. I ready that A1 should be voltage, but it bears no resemblance to the actual reading from the batteries nor any resemblance to the battery voltage provided within Betaflight. 2 questions; in D8, as A1 really supposed to be battery voltage and, if so, why is it not even the same as reported within Betaflight? Secondly, although EULBT radio wouldn't be expected to bind to non-EU quad in D16, why can't I get my iRangeX module to bind in D16? Thanks for any help you can give. Kev.
@AndyRCchannel5 жыл бұрын
You only get rssi in d8 nothing else. As you are using lbt you won't be able to use d16 as it's Fcc d16 but d16 does give full telemetry. Cheers
@kevinhill18515 жыл бұрын
Andy, thanks for the response. With D8, in the telemetry tab on the radio, A1 and A2 get the blink asterisk against them as well as RSSI, which I thought indicated that they were being updated. I must be misunderstanding what that asterisk means. And on the EULBT radio, I thought that having a plug-in module at the back, in my case the iRangeX/IRX4+ which itself does normal D16, meant that using that module I could do normal FCC D16 - isn’t that how it works? I’m very much a novice and always get frustrated with binding, so I’m probably misunderstanding this. Thanks again for your help. K
@kevinhill18515 жыл бұрын
Aha, I got the external module to connect via D16 this morning; seems like I was doing it wrong. However, the Taranis explicitly indicates within the external module selection that D16 comes without telemetry, so although I got the connection, I still don’t get any battery voltage!!! Arhhhh. So is there really no way of getting a battery voltage whilst flying my setup? This seems really silly to me. How do I ensure I don’t run out of power? I guess I can listen for the beeper on the FC, as I know that that goes off per the Betaflight config.
@kevinhill18515 жыл бұрын
Further progress. I found reference to the latest crazy bee firmware for M7 supporting LBT, so upgraded the firmware to 4.0.3, configured for FRSKY_X_LBT and hey presto, binding works first time. Lost all my Betaflight settings, and I’m sure there is a way of not having done that, but at least I now have the telemetry and what seems a vaguely sensible VFAS that is reported on Taranis as the same value being reported within Betaflight. I feel that Quad FPV isn’t yet at the point where it is straightforward, and although I am pretty technical, when you don’t spend my time on this stuff, it can be hard to get to grips with. Hey ho. Thanks for the help. K
@Gosuminer6 жыл бұрын
Note that the EU-LBT version has different hardware. The receiver is not connected via SPI but it's a genuine FrSky XM+ which means three things: 1) it adds 2g of weight which is not negligible in a Whoop, 2) you don't get telemetry and 3) it hogs a UART. Also, the two very long antennas of the XM+ stick out the top of the canope. I might try to remove the XM+ because the board still seems to come with the SPI receiver in place so I might be able to bind it to my EU-LBT transmitter in D8 mode. BTW: I did not get a nice coloured manual but a partially unreadable b/w copy. However, there is a PDF on the Happymodel web site. As for hitting gaps I also struggle a lot in tight spaces but I think this is due to the higher weight. The higher inertia makes it really difficult to correct when you are going slow.

Another downside is the frame breaks easier thaj it should, defo get an extra frame and or some e6000 glue to fix it up with. For me the place for these 2s whoops is small parks and playgrounds and bigger gardens, sports halls and big houses for indoors, on one cell lipo it's almost like a normal whoop but like you say the size goes against it and I still prefere a good brushed whoop in my house. Thanks for amazing review! Is it possible (or even reasonable) to create or wire a way to use two of the provided batteries in a 1s configuration?
@Prop-A6 жыл бұрын
joel - you could make a wire that interconnects your batteries in parralel with a plug to plug them into the quad. then bridge one of the quad battery connectors as andy says and go. Parralel is plus to plus, and minus to minus, that way you dont increase voltage but increase total mah. In series (plus to minus) you increase the voltage, and total mah. You wont get more flight time, since your mah will be the same, you will just add more weight to the quad, with less potential power (Voltage) so the motors will have to work harder, hence using more power than with one baterry of 1s. Hope this helps, I advise you to fly it like happymodel intended. If you however want to test it, watch some vodeos on youtube about wirerin batteries in series and parralel, the rules apply for all batteries, and solar panels and more. Usefull stuff to know :-)

Anders Ahm Jensen Thanks for the amazing reply! The reason I asked is because I’m still newer to the hobby and I don’t know if I trust my skills to run 2s indoors. I also have a handful of 1s 250mah batteries, so rather than buying some 450mah batteries (which I saw some people use in a 1s application), i thought simply to pair them up. The weight between between the single 1s and the double 1s in parallel is similar. Is this reasonable for me to think? Or maybe I should stick with 2s and simply adjust expo?

So my current assumption is they are designed by the same engineers and produced at the same factories,.. just marketed and spec'd by two different companies,......much like everything coming out of China. Not hating,... it gives us options. I'll probably buy this one too.
@AndyRCchannel5 жыл бұрын
they are the same product with two different color options. Thats all there is to it other than it been an upgrade from the uruav65 which is also the same company but if you are talking about happy model they are a separate company. Perhaps the instructions look the same as most of these companies want good english manuals so I imagine those are outsourced.

@@AndyRCchannel Yes, I was talking about the US65 vs Mobula. The Mobula just looks like an enlarged version, and has many of the same features. But you may be right,....

Doesn't look that much bigger Andy. You know I'm right there with you most the time but I don't see the whole it's too big thing. I do love your opinion and respect, but a 20mm or so difference doesn't seem that noticeable. Looked like 2s was more the issue than size in the house. I haven't flown either yet, so I should probably just shut up and leave it to the pro! 😁 Keep killing it.

they need to boost the vtx's on all of these to at least 100mw. I love my UR65 but would like a 2s for outdoor and racing. Plus I have a ton of 2s bats

I've flown the beta 65, 75, ur65, horizon, tinyhawk and even this...I stand by this, use! 2s whoops are badass outdoor, bring them inside there pigs generally an most multigp events or even stand alone events only allow 1s. My OG 65 6mm has beaten more brushless whoops than I can count haha! End story buy for use an each one has there own pros an cons...this it's the best shit is as good as shit lol...every pilot is different lol!

If you don't like it I would happily take this burden from you :D But seriously how do this one compare to Walkera Rodeo 110 (I have one). On video it seems to fly very similar, but it have ducts for indor flight and it's very lite so in my world it's a win.

hey andy, please solder on thicker cables or shorten them up. after doing this i get about 4 mins of flight time and SO MUCH more power! Im using stock connectors, only thicker cables. have fun and please redo review with this :)

so you fly around with less than 10 mm margin of error? you claim to shoot gaps easily with the 75mm. but bump stuff with the 85mm.. amazing!

@@toninhoalan you just need to jump the pins on one of the plugs. Either with a jumper or you can build a plug.

Hello Andy. I need a bit help. I managed to bind mobula7 flysky with i6x tx. However, on display of tx, i got warning for low rx battery. I set in betaflight battery 4.3max, 3.1 warning and 3.0 shut of. So I set those same numbers in my tx RX settings. It is also set PWM and IBUS I think. Is that OK? Please, I really need help, at least with this. Thank you.
@AndyRCchannel5 жыл бұрын
It should be ppm and ibus I think? The warning you are getting is on the transmitter you are holding in your hands?

@@AndyRCchannel yes yes on my fs i6x tx display. Below TX battery level. Values in RX battery setting on tx are: high 5.0, alarm 4.2, low 4.0. I also saw that it is set PWM and I BUS. Any suggestions?
