Alright... over 20 years ago, I was listening to this, non stop. I was going through a serious depression, i was around 20: the age when so many people are enjoying being young... I was watching this x files episode yesterday and these memories and emotions came back right in my face... How can we transform old sadness in hope? Be thankfull for the journey despite the successive suffering? Now I have the most wonderfull woman as a partner and a baby that is beyond fantastic. The pain never really left in all those years but here we are. Stay strong. Be true. You are so much better than the abusers.

But here we are. I told my girlfriend a recurring dream I have on my last day. Wondering down a valley in Walla Walla, WA in a wheat field and running my hands over the wheat yet to be harvested. A small farmhouse, with everyone I loved in my life. That was Heaven. Must have meant something. She started crying and said she never wanted to hear this song again. And yet, I still do.

He is simply very grateful for the path he has traveled, despite the successive sufferings that are currently occurring. Now I have the most wonderful man as a partner and a baby who is beyond fantastic. The pain never really goes away in all those years and yet we are here and it will always reside with us. Fuck yes. In my All-time favorite films. So heavily underrated, for sport films, and films about the human condition. When Willy looks back, talking about his arm starting to hurt, to an empty stadium, now wanting coach's comfort and wisdom after rejecting it earlier in the film...it hits me right in the chest every time. The Sopranos scene, and X-Files episode Closure, do the same.

Actually the lyrics are not in English. They are in what was thought to be African dialect that Moby himself said he does not know what they mean. The lyrics have nothing to do with the words my weakness or going home. Source is Moby.com in a journal entitled Moby answers your questions. To quote Moby himself “My weakness' i don't know. it's in some strange african dialect, so i have no idea what's being said“ He just thought it sounded cool and put it in a song which he gave a title that has nothing to do with the language being chanted. It is a sample of the song by an Indigenous Kanak Choir in the Tiga Islands (French New Caledonia in France, not Africa) called Danse Nyinewaco De Tiga recorded by French Ethnomusicologist Jean-Michel Beaudet in 1986 and the part sampled in My Weakness Starts almost right at the beginning of the song for a good 45-50 seconds. Listening to the original song that was sampled and put on KZbin in recent years by Aude Yoin, It just sounds like they are saying “Nyinewa..Nyinewaco” with a sound at the end over and over but we still don’t know what Nyinewaco means. Only the Kanak people do.But apparently according to Beaudet it is a traditional chant of the Kanak/New Caledonian People.

At least we now know that the lyric most likely has to do with the title of the original song Danse Nyinewaco De Tiga uploaded to KZbin as Tiga Dance (Moby Sample). The Ethnomusicologist who recorded the original piece was not at all impressed with Moby’s work and was translated as basically saying there was no effort put into his version and it seemed rather boring. That is what he told the person who uploaded it to KZbin (Aude Yoin). Anyone can take a fragment of a song, repeat it and add electronic meditation music in behind it. He had no problem with Moby using his work, just was not impressed with what he did with it.
