Stipahlu has been an Okotan builder and mask maker for ages. Long time colleague of Ekimu, the two are separated not by skill but by ideology. Stipahlu believed in the villagers and Protector's of Okoto, and their ability to defend their great island. Stipahlu's distrust of the Prophecy of Heroes was not quelled by the arrival of the Toa, as he bore witness to the ruination they wrought on the land.
With the help of his creature companion Frennak, Stipahlu prepares for the eventual confrontation with the destructive Toa and their allies. All the while, Ekimu hopes that their differences might be put aside.

+98mixmax Thanks 98! I definitely liked that I made his legs longer than is natural, but I believe that (and the consensus does as well) that I may have gone too far. I hope you'll be willing to check out my follow up video that I will be doing in the coming days (hopefully not weeks) that will showcase the changes I made to the legs and I hope you can offer up some feedback! Appreciate the support and glad you liked him!

I actually liked the idea about the blaster top half's being there and the skull spider legs as toenails it adds that extra articulation to Stiphalu's already massive structure but the changes to his hands and back that were done in the Capstone review was definitely needed other than that I would have built Stiphalu with his long and reinforced legs but maybe use black and grey in some places instead of the white parts

Alright, I admit it, I was one of the people who hopped on your channel's bandwagon because you had the 2016 summer set reviews. But after seeing this video, I'm very glad that I subbed, because you really are a great MOCer and video maker. This MOC is really creative, especially the little functions like being able to store the hammer on either the hand or the back. The fact that you created a short little animation for it makes the whole thing that much cooler.

@PlayStippling
@PlayStippling 8 жыл бұрын
+Ninten Tom Absolutely! I'm going to do what I call a "Capstone Review" of this character, and in that video I'll dismantle him a bit to show sections of him. I may also do a different series (name pending) where I'll do little moc tips. The hands may show up in either video, the former will come out much sooner than the latter.
@Chedda_goblin
@Chedda_goblin 8 жыл бұрын
Thankyou! I cannot wait for that! You see, I have recently made a channel called Ninten Tom Two, where I do reviews/MOCS/MOVS for Bionicle, and I wanted to make a really well-built and thought out ccbs Self moc, and the hand thing I was talking about was sought of a main factor as I just came across some old pieces for it, and putting them together now made me realise that I could make it better. So that capstone review would definitely help!

The torso, upper arms, mask and hammer are creatively done and look pretty nice! I would recommend changing the lower legs and the lower arms because the bone pieces just don't work with the rest of the MOC, in my opinion. Still, a good start! I would love to see more upgrades with this one and see how that goes!
@PlayStippling
@PlayStippling 8 жыл бұрын
+Christian Park Hey Christian, thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you liked quite a number of elements of the design. I've already reworked the legs quite a bit, which you should see in my next Capstone Review, as well as a few smaller changes. I'm not certain I agree with the lower arms section as I really wanted those minimalistic and not extremely built-up, which made the bone-styled bone perfect for that. Again, I greatly appreciate your feedback on him and hope you'll like my next progress update.

+JazzHandss Thanks Jazz! I definitely enjoy the cinematic elements that capture the characters. It gives me a chance to "place them" in the world, and hint at their story significance without having to develop them into a fully-fledged character. I don't know that I would ever do a standalone cinematic story, as they take SO LONG! Oh my gosh, even that little clip at the beginning dragged this video out for so long. Maybe the process would get streamlined over time, but for now it will have to be a bonus for mocs I'm particularly proud of.

And hey, if you ever need voices to separate some characters and or you want a back and forth, let me know. I am a voice actor wanna be sort of thing. All the same, I liked the moc a lot, and it's got me thinking of other moc's I wanna make outside of the Toa and creatures I've been making. I've got a few in mind now, all bad guys, and all fun. I might need to take some time out and try to make it. All the same, great job on this guy, and would love to see him with a crew of bad guys behind him.

@PlayStippling
@PlayStippling 8 жыл бұрын
+Merko_SK Thanks for the positive feedback Merko! The hands are probably one of my favorite parts as well. They almost look like fingerless gloves, which I thought worked out perfectly. Yeah the legs are a bit controversial at the moment, I'll just have to tinker with them and come up with something better for next time (for now, I need to work on something else! I've been staring at Stipahlu for too long now!). Glad you like the intros! I like to add extra flair to the videos when appropriate.Most likely won't have a fully-fledged tutorial of him (taking him apart entirely will be a disastrous undertaking!), but I will be making a follow-up video that will address a lot of the comments that were discussed here, and I will also peel away some of the superficial layers of his construction to allow interested parties to see how he's built up. Thanks so much for your support and I hope you like whatever I roll out next! :P

Wow, nice. Another way to connect a weapon to your custom hand is to use a axlehole with a pinhole in the middle, and connect it to a '3' long axle with a stud on one end, it allows more flex and movement in the hand.
@PlayStippling
@PlayStippling 8 жыл бұрын
+Colin McGreevy Interesting alternative. I'm trying to visualize what you're saying and I think I get it. I wonder how stable a heavier weapon would be on a single pinhole, but then again I may be understanding it wrong.

You seem to understand it fine, but the pinhole is very sturdy. I used the technique with a weapon twice the weight of your's.

I love this moc but you could make the arms maybe a little bit longer just to get them in scale with the legs (only if you want to)

+FUNGAME 1092 I still aspire to do a follow-up video to this, where I'll hopefully touch more on the construction of him. The headdress/wings are just build around the main headpiece. Was challenging to build with enough space to fit the mask though.
