Mocha Pro: Rotoscoping with PowerMesh

Mocha Pro's PowerMesh is for more than insert and paint, it also is a powerful ally when rotoscoping.
Boris FX Senior Product Specialist, Mary Poplin, walks you through how to leverage PowerMesh to save even more time when rotoscoping subplanar motion all in one shape.
In this example, Mary is applying detailed color to a line art tattoo in After Effects, however, the same technique could be used in any host that supports roto shapes and colorization with blending modes, like Nuke, Fusion, and more.

For more complex and demanding roto shots, Silhouette is often the answer. Luckily Silhouette can use the PowerMesh driven shape data from Mocha with a simple copy/paste!

Do you mean tracking a premade alpha channel? Unless it is a shape with a consistent edge, then that's probably not going to work. Mocha tracks textures and a black & white alpha really has no texture. If I have misunderstood, please post an example in the forums : forum.borisfx.com/

I'm confused... I am trying to track a face on both cheeks where one cheek disappears half way through then comes back in and then my tracking errors out. So do I just go all the way through and go back and pull the slider to where its off and readjust?

Break this shot up into two sections. When the cheek disappears you can stop the track and create a new shape for when the cheek is back in shot. Remember to track from a point where you have the most information, so best to track this second shot backwards. You can try the other method where you try to reposition the original points once the cheek is back in shot. But this is much less time efficient and probably won't give you the results you want without a lot of effort.

i did tracking with mesh, but after enabling render & choosing stabilize warp, its not tracking. please can you tell me what should i do

Did you trim in your layer? If you did, then you'll want to precompose it before tracking and stabilizing. This should fix most of those types of problems. If not please join us on the forums : forum.borisfx.com or submit a Support ticket. Thanks!
