🧟 I really like the cover spread you did, the collaging is excellent and the colour palette is really pleasing to the eye. The other spreads are very nice to look at too, especially the little frames with the various different papers as backgrounds. My reading month in June was atrocious. I read a total of 0 books, which is really bad for me as I generally get 2-5 books read per month. 😅

Love your journal. It had been a rough year. All my best reads have been in January. Only had 2 books rated over 3 star since😱 best rated so far: The Library Book. Scarlet Alchemist. She Who Became the sun. HE who Drowned the World, and Horrorstör.

Beautiful spreads! Some months bees like that! Thankfully, not often though. When I’ve read two or three books that I didn’t enjoy, I reach for a reread that I know I like. Just to cleanse my palate, you know. Anyway, wishing you luck with July reads.

🧟‍♀️ I really like the stickers from Japan, those muted colours are lovely. It is fun to watch you put together your different spreads and they turn out to be so pretty. As far as book recommendations, have you read “A Master of Djinn” by P. Djeli Clark? There are also a couple of novellas about the same “alternate world “. I found them easy, light listening and was entertained by the story. You may enjoy them too.

At least the spreads are beautiful, even if they weren't great books haha 🧟‍♀ I really love reading short stories and have a lot of short story collections, there's something so cool about getting a whole story with all the emotions of a whole book in just one sitting. If you're interested there's several podcasts that read short stories for people, so like a free audiobook almost. Some of my favourites are PodCastle (for fantasy short stories, they also have sister podcasts for sci fi and horror short stories) and Levar Burton Reads.

My recommendation would be a recent 5/5 read for me: Frontier by Grace Curtis. It's a sci-fi queer story that I really liked the story telling style of. I tend to only read book reviews before writing my own if I'm unsure how to quantify what I'm thinking - sometimes hearing other people's thoughts can clarify what I think. But mostly I wait until I've written down my thoughts 'pure', without influence. Funnily enough, this month I finally finished off a series I started in my teens too! It didn't disappoint me as much as yours did for you, but I wasn't as thrilled as I'd wanted to be either.

LOVE that Marigona Suli sticker *heart eyes* I vaguely remember the Ashes trilogy coming out and I honestly don't remember anyone liking them - and yeah, so weird that the GR ratings are so high! I recently re-read the first two books in the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir (Necromancers! Locked room mysteries!) so I could read the third. I and enjoyed them a lot on audio. The first one is Gideon the Ninth, the books kind of straddle the line between SF and Fantasy. 🧟🧟‍♂🧟‍♀

Oh, I feel sorry the series was a dissapointment. Goodreads and all of the rankings for different things are a weird thing. Some of my favourite books and especially movies are rated low, the ones I hate super high. It only shows me that sometimes you can't believe those, you just have to read or watch something on your own :) Book I can recommend - VOX by Christina Dalcher. Such a great book. It's a little bit heavy. Heavy with emotions of a reader. I wanted to scream from anger and hated all man during reading. But I live in a country where they pretend but really don't give a shit about women and our rights so it felt personal. I'd love to hear your opinion :) :)
