One major issue I find with the "audio books don't count as books" is that is incredibly ableist. There are so many people who aren't able to read for any kind of reason were it for being blind or visibly impared or some other reason that affects their ability to read. And audio books are incredible for those people and make it possible for many to "read" any kind of books. I don't know if those people that gate keep reading books would say that audio books don't count to someone unable to read, but it is so narrow minded. Also, a lot of people sighted or not, are so busy and find it hard to near impossible to find any time to sit down and stare at pages of a physical book. You can't really do much while reading, so if you're busy, like let's say a working single parent with multiple children, there's no way you have time regularly to sit and enjoy a physical book. I think all books, in any medium and platform are counted as reading and it should only be encouraged that people read, whichever way and whatever kind of book they can and want to. Gate keeping is so freaking dumb... Anyways, thank you for talking about this and also the spreads are so pretty ! I especially loved the craft-paper ones, there's just something so special in that brown paper. And thank you for the amazing opportunity for a giveaway notebook ! ♥ 💌📓📚

I completely agree! My daughter is dyslexic….audio books are the best way for her to ‘read’ books. If not for audio, she would have to rely on movies (never as good as the book 😊) or just not participate in the amazing world of reading. I travel extensively for my job, I listen to books instead of constantly searching for music to fit my mood. If not for audio books, I too would not be able to participate in the world of reading or chat with friends about books. audiobooks should, count as reading.

I find that audiobooks are the most accessible to me. I have read more this year with both physical and audiobooks than i have probably ever. The fact that I can listen to a story while driving or working or cleaning really just makes it so much easier. AND I’m pretty sure i heard that it still lights up the same part of your brain and if you were reading a physical book

I am so glad to hear you speak up about counting audiobooks as reading! So many thoughts about the ableism of not considering it reading, and issues of literacy that audiobook reading is intertwined with. As a librarian, I'm always happy people come into contact with stories and knowledge, regardless of its format, because it's all valid and enriching !

I love seeing how spontaneous you are with the Neapolitan pages. I always felt like the change of page color had to be the start of a new month for me, and it used to stress me out when things didn’t align that way. I’ll have to give it another go in the future. 📖

I‘m so excited about the neapolitan notebook, I loved your first neapolitan reading journal so much 🥹 I still rewatch the videos regularly 😂 The shipping from A&O was too high for me, but I got myself a kraft paper journal for my reading journal this year, so I‘m at least joining in on a little bit of the colored-pages fun!

You’ve definitely inspired some pages for my reading journal. I’ve combined my reading journal with media because I do listen to a lot of books and I watch a lot of movies and KZbin videos. Your bingo spread was fun and I will probably use that for mixed media. I’ve only been doing this type of journaling for two years before my journals were very traditional.

So many books ready to be read without the hassle of carrying tons of weighty tomes (I remember my days of hefty backpacks). I love the collage style you do and get so much inspiration from it. I love the way your spreads come out looking so cohesive and designed. I feel like when I try to replicate the feel of spreads similar to this style it just comes out a jumbled mess lol. Your journals are beautiful. Also, who cares how you intake a story...you're getting the same content whether you read it📖 or listen to it🎧, the ONLY difference is you actually know how to pronounce the names and difficult location names when you listen. Let the physical only readers guess, its more fun that way lol.

My absolutely favorite book in 2024 was „Last night at the telegraph club“ It’s a story set in the 50s following a teenage girl who is Asian American but also discovering her own sexuality & identity. It addressed so many issues about America back then and how the queer but also Asian Community was treated and perceived. It isn’t one of the lightest and most fun reads ever but definitely one of the most emotionally impactful ones I had in a long time. So yeah, big recommendation from me. 🥰

I absolutely love your videos! If you are struggling to keep track of what days you read for a whole year, maybe in your Bujo add it as a habit you track? Then you can transfer the data to your reading log at the end of each month. I do a reading tracker in my Bujo where I use different symbols to track which books I read which days. I think it's fun to see how long I read each book for. It's very telling when I'm dragging my feet on a book 😅

I love that I have found your channel now. I used to be an avid reader and aim to dive back into reading in all forms, ebook, paper and audio. During the last few years audiobooks have allowed me to keep reading at least a little, and I count it equally to the other format. Why wouldn't it count? If you are past needing to read the words yourself to practice your reading skills there are no reason not to listen, besides wanting to have the experience of reading paoer- or ebooks, in your own pace and with your own imagination giving voices to the characters. Either way, it's reading and all book experiences are valid and lovely ❤ ,📚

I love your comments about audiobooks. I recently read an article about the question do audiobooks count as reading, and it was crazy to me what those that have an issue with it had to say. Like, they argued that it doesn't count because it's too easy to get distracted... Baby, I get distracted constantly when reading physical books or ebooks. I agree that people should do what they like and not let the negative comments from others stop them. I love reading physical books and turning pages, but I also really enjoy audiobooks. For my book bingo I wrote in some books I've wanted to read for a long time, some formats like "a manga" or "a graphic novel" as well as things that are usually featured in books I love. "Features dragons" "features pirates/the sea" and things like tropes - "enemies to lovers" "the reluctant hero" - i know you enjoy a good spooky book so you could put some spooky tropes or common plots in there as a prompt. I also did "a skinny book" and "a chonky book", and things related to series like start/continue/finish a series, or read a standalone- just to spark some ideas :)

always very inspiring watching what others are doing with kraft and black paper so i'm really excited to see what you will be doing with this journal throughout the year !! especially love how you incorporated and paired the stained glass stickers in the first few spreads and the roses on the kraft paper!

I would really really love to see a reading journal flip through of 2024📚💕 Even though I've seen all the spreads from the separate videos it's still precious to see everything at once again! 😍 Thank you so much for this wonderful video! Lots of love for you and the kittens!

I'm going to begin journalling since you've inspired me by watching you design the gorgeous pages in your journal. I think mine will be an "everything" themed journal, where I can record thoughts, stories, recipes, reading, garden planning, or anything that comes to mind at that particular day. My eyesight makes reading difficult, so audio books are the best for me. I have twin grey kittens plus three older cats. I recognize the scratch marks on your hands. I loved seeing their excitement as they watched you, then realized your viewers watch with the same excitement. I don't usually have so many cats but my daughter brought home a kitten three years in a row (and my husband and I have a love for creatures so we couldn't say no), then my brother had a stray cat have a litter of kittens in his back yard, so I took in the two gray ones.

Your videos are my favorite as far as bullet journaling is concerned...they are a sort of a lofi music kinda thing for me. And thanks a lot for the inspiration for my own journal🤍🤍🤍

The Neapolitan notebook is so satisfying to see the different washi tapes and stickers on the different papers.

I remember when you last had the Neapolitan journal and loved your creativity with the brown and black pages! So excited that you are using it again - I need to get my black paper out again too and challenge myself again with my spreads! I also used this video to set up my own reading journal for 2025, so excited for the new reading year 📚
