Hola Mochi sensei, I'm from Mexico and I've been learning English for quite a few years. However, I was never good at it. Since then, I got into anime culture, and I always thought about the idea of learning Japanese as well, but I never did it seriously. I tried to learn hiragana and katana, a few words, and did some passive input with anime and Japanese music that ended in a failed attempt. I realized that, despite all the years I had spent watching anime, listening to Japanese songs and studying a bit on my own, I had achieved nothing. When I watched your previous JPLT N5 video I was startled and amazed I was able to at least understand the general theme of the conversations only knowing a few words I didn't even know I knew. I feel proud of myself and relieved to know that all these years have not been a total waste of my time. I just wanted to thank you because now I feel more encouraged to take it seriously.

I'm basically at N5, might pass the test, but listening is definitely where I have to improve a lot (together with some of the grammar, mostly learnt the -masu/-mashita and did way less dictionary and other forms, good enough to guess when reading, not fast enough for listening)

thank you for these kinds of helpful videos!! I am still learning, for 7:43 may I know which is the word for 'near'? I read is as 'Tokyo Station's large department store'. Also at 8:18 can someone explain to me what does the 'ya' stand for in 'fuku ya kutsu mo' I thought 'ya' means store. Thank you for clarifying!
@babbymonke

She doesn't say the word for it. It would be 近く (ちかく) then particule ni for Tokyo Station. Also ya is for x amount. For example you can use it for さかな (fish) then particule ya in a スーパー ( supermarket ) if this makes sense. In this case fuku and kutsu are clothes and shoes. Hope this helps. Good luck!
