Elly, great video. I was looking at getting a mock mill until I learned the stone are synthetic. Are you concerned about the aluminum oxide from these synthetic grinding wheels?
@karenb366214 күн бұрын
Hello Elly. I've watched and enjoyed several of your videos so when I started having problems with my Mockmill 100 clogging and not running well, I watched this video. You came to the part of the springs and a light went off for me. I checked and sure enough both were gone. At a time of cleaning my M100, I turned it up to remove flour and that's when I must have lost them. Oh my!!! Thank you so much for making this video. I would never have figured it out on my own. Actually, I watched 3 other videos before yours and they never once mentioned the springs. I ordered them and will cost under $7 including shipping. :)

I just purchased the Mockmill 200 yesterday, As I a typical man who is always repairing and converting items, I was impressed with your illustration on this product, you came over very knowledgeable hitting the key points I needed to see, thank you, My positive information passing to you would be ` when you adjust and here the noise of the stones slightly rubbing that`s the ticking sound,when setting to fine ground there will be very fine particle dust caused by that friction from the stones touching , So I would advice set the lever a fraction back until the noise is so faint then first throw rice down there, then throw it away that would remove any fine dust particles coursed by that setting you don where the ticking noise appears I know this is what they suggest it should be set at, but when to stones rub they do course very fine dust that you might not see in your flour but it will be there,and setting it to where I suggest should not make much of a difference to the fineness of the flour but you will have less wear on the stones and fractional minimal stone dust particles in your flour, I also would like to say any one who may feel grit type in there bread should realize if you have done some course grinding be for and not cleaned the machine correctly then gone back to do fine grain after a week or so the chances are not grit from stones, its old grain particles, Have you had any particles in your bread from this machine? Also does this machine heat the flour. if so how much flour can you mill be for you realize the heat ? parttical

Thanks for your comments. The mill does heat the flour slightly but only to around 40C. Congratulations on getting your mill!

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this video. My flour was so coarse and now I know it’s to do with the adjustment on the leaver to where the ticking point is. I’m so relieved. Thank you. Bread making was getting tedious because of the flour coming out so coarse. On the mockmill 100 we don’t have the line on the settings so I’ve had to do it blind. I now have fine flour yayyyyyy 😂

I had a different mill for about 4 years and liked it, but it was much more complicated to use. This one is so simple and easy. I was coveting it but couldn’t rationalize getting another mill. I was showing my husband one of your bread videos and he saw your mill and how simple it was. When I told him I’d been eying it, he said “we’ll just sell yours and get this one”. @ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
That's brilliant Kerry! Just bear in mind though that while you'll get a nice coarse grind of your wheat from this mill, you won't get technically 'cracked' grain. That requires different equipment altogether! Having said that I'm not sure what your wife's cereal actually looks like, it might be more fine than I'm imagining. I hope you both are happy with what the mill can do though. They are truly excellent machines.

Hello.. What is the difference between Mukmil 200 and Mukmil 100? What is the engine power of your mill? Thank you
@ellyswholegrainsourdough Жыл бұрын
The Mockmill 200 has a more powerful motor and mills the grain twice as fast, other than that they are identical. Sorry, but I'm not sure of the exact engine power of this mill. You could find the specifications on the Mockmill website.

Hi Elly l am from Melbourne just wondering what’s the difference between the 100 & the 200. I have never used one before and does it come with an Australian plug. What’s the cost of the 100 & the 200. Can’t we get anything similar here in Australia. Please let me know
@ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernadette, yes, you can absolutely buy these in Australia! The 100 and the 200 are exactly the same except the motor is more powerful on the 200 model so it mills the flour twice as fast. Either would be wonderful though, they are truly excellent quality mills. In Australia, you can get them from Vanrooy Machinery in Melbourne. All the details including my code for a 5% discount are here www.ellyseveryday.com/home-milling-mockmill-links I've just heard from Vanrooy today that they have full stock on all the models! It's a good time to buy one if you can make the investment. I will be sharing a post about this tonight on social media if you follow me there (instagram or facebook). Thanks for your enquiry.

Hello Elly, thank for the informative video. You mentioned in the video that you make your own oat milk; do you use the Mockmill to do so? If so, could you explain your process? Many thanks,
@ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Seydou. You can use the mockmill to grind the oats coarsely, but these days I've been using rolled oats. I blend about 2/3 cup of rolled oats with 4-5 cups of cold water for about 1 minute. Don't over blend or the milk will be slimy. I also add a 1/8 tsp each of salt and bicarb soda (helps if you're using the milk for coffee). You can also add a tablespoon of lecithin granules, that helps to emulsify it. Then I just strain it through a fine sieve or piece of light cotton cloth and squeeze out. You can add sweeteners too if you like, but it keeps longer without them and I don't think it's needed.

Elly, thanks for this video. A good reminder that my MockMill is due for a cleaning! Have you thought of doing a video on how you make oat milk? Granted, oat milk is not bread (or soap!) but given how organized and methodical you are, I bet you have a system down pat that many could benefit from. I made some recently for the first time and it was a complete mess, the texture was poor and the taste uninteresting. Just a thought! P.S. Just saw the comment below and your reply. I thought the same thing when you mentioned your Indian cooking! Go for it, if you can find the time!

Thanks Arlo, yes I've had requests on how to make my oat milk (and other types) before and I'm never sure where to put them! I might write it up as a recipe for my blog and share it as a post to the channel so people can read/find from there.

@ellyswholegrainsourdough3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mel, yes I think you can! As long as the milling produce is dry and not oily (ie. no seeds) it should mill quite nicely. I know people who mill spices, herbs and other things in with their grain for bread making. Works really well!

@ellyswholegrainsourdough3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracey, yes I do know that! The only difference is motor size. The 200 has a more powerful (but otherwise same quality) motor than the 100 and mills the flour faster than the 100. Both machines are excellent quality and identical in every other way.

Hi Elly! As a sourdough 100% rye bread baker I was debating on whether or not to upgrade to the mockmill. Do you ever experiment with ryemeal? What would it look like with the Mockmill? Is there a taste difference than using just the #1 setting? I'm guessing the #1 setting is the same as the Vitamix result but really don't know if there is a difference. I have been on the fence to get the Mockmill because I've had a Vitamix now for 40 years but am really interested in experimenting with the rye meal vs fine flour for health reasons. Whole grains are acclaimed to be better for you and I've incorporated lots of whole grain mixes (cooked) into my breads for this reason. Would be great if you could share any experiences you've had along these lines. Btw, congrats on your new affiliation!
@ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I mill whole rye flour all the time in my Mockmill, and yes it's easy to adjust the setting for a more coarse grind. I tend just to use the fine whole rye flour (I never sift it), but it's still full of the bran and is lovely to bake with! The flavour is the same for any flour with the Mockmill, it's just the texture that changes as you increase the coarseness of the flour/meal. These videos show a bit on how I bake with rye flour, you might enjoy them: Simple 100% Whole Grain Rye Sourdough Bread kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ-9q36abrOjq6M 100% Whole Grain Rye Sourdough with Seeds kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnTRZHibqbx5a8k

@@ellyswholegrainsourdough Yes, I've seen your videos and I use pumpkin and sunflower seeds in every bake but yet, my question remains. I've never seen you use the rye meal.... just the finely ground (which is what I make with the Vitamix). I was just wondering if you ever experimented with the coarseness of the rye and what your opinion is on the Vitamix vs. the Mockmill. Would getting a Mockmill be a step up from the Vitamix for making whole grain rye breads? As you know me from Wholegrain Sourdough Baker, ~ Heidi Joy
@ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
Hi Heidi, I've never used a vitamix for my grain so I'm not sure, and you're right, I only use the rye flour, so I can't really say much about rye meal. If you only want to use rye meal, then I'm not sure a stone mill will be of any further use to you. If the blender gives you the coarse meal you want, then is there a need to upgrade? If you're wanting flour though, then I completely recommend a Mockmill!

I just purchased a mockmill 200 and It does not have any marks to set up the little lever....I tried to run rice through it today as instructed for first time use and it keeps jamming up....I've tried 5 or 6 times taking it apart, resetting it up resetting the grind as per instructions with no luck what is goin on??????? I'm so dfrustrated... one think I did notice after unboxing it and following the instructions to take out the safety locks was that the top inner plastic disc was very hard to turn to get off....it looks really easy to turn on your machine
@ellyswholegrainsourdough2 жыл бұрын
Oh Beth, that sounds very frustrating! I don't know what's going on there. I don't recall my top stone being hard to remove when I first bought my mill, though I don't think I removed it. Are your two springs still in place? I would contact Mockmill in Germany, their customer service is excellent. Or contact the supplier you bought the mill from, they should be able to guide you and check further to see if there's anything wrong with it. I hope you can get it sorted out soon!
