If you're here like me, to know why they take u instead of U in momentum thickness, just understand the concept at 35:33 of _hypothetical uniform flow_ . This is what they use in Indian books.

Hi Sir, I would like to ask some questions about Re number at boundary layers: when you explained the Navier-Stokes equation for the boundary layer in the previous videos, you made some approaches to apply order magnitude analysis . One of them is high Re numbers but you did not define how high, -high enough to become turbulent or is it high but the flow is laminar? As I see we applied theories for both laminar flow and turbulent flow, How much high should Re be in terms of the applicability of scaling analysis at BLs?

you have the equation of wall shear stress in terms of u and u(infinity) as a differential of x just substitute and get the answer
