Sir, U r simply superb. Tough things have been made so simpler to understand it very easily. After gap of 20 years, I have started studying again for my Phd preparation. You made my preparation so easy that 100 books could not have done.

If container filled with fluid of weight w ,then is it possible that pressure force on bottom surface of container is larger than fluid weight??
@RajeshSharma-yz4dh4 жыл бұрын
if we consider atmospheric pressure then pressure at bottom of the liquid is higher then the weight of the liquid . and if atm pressure is not considered then fluid pressure at bottom of the container is equal to the weight of the fluid

At 5:44, it should be rho_w - rho_m?

Excellent lecture series, Professor Som. I have a quick question for you (and others reading this) from the section where hydrostatic force on a flat surface is discussed. When we look at the surface from the top such that we are directly looking at the area dA, isn't that surface dA in the y-z plane, based on the axis convention shown in the beginning of this part. In other words dA=dxdz, which implies that from @34:22 onward, every time x was referred, it should have been z. I think what may have led Prof Som into this potential mistake (since I am not a 100% sure if I am correct) is the fact that when the inclined surface was re-drawn in the "rotated view" (rotation about y axis) to expose dA, it was still drawn in the same plane (without re-drawing the axes seen from that view). I might be wrong, but that's what I think. It would be great if someone could please clarify. Brilliant lecture series, anyway. Thank you!

Yp - Yc = Ix'/(YcA) as mentioned @40:03, But I wanted to know how Yp-Yc will vary with respect to angle θ, I mean won't Yp-Yc =0 when θ=0, ....but in the expression I didnt find any relation with θ

Yc= Hc/sin(tita). Just substitute it in rhs and you will find relation between tita and yp-yc

at 8:54 is the figure right and if figure is right then eq. is wrong as it should be pw-pm not pm-pw
@vai_-cn9br4 жыл бұрын
Yes. The correct figure should be: B point above and A point below, in the given inclined column manometer. Also pA>pB due to more depression in left column than the right one. So it is a small mistake in the figure which when corrected, gives the same piezometric pressure equation stated in the video. :)

change the direction of flow and replace P,a to P,b and vice versa...............your doubt will then be solved.

Xp should be zero if the surface itself lies in y-z plane, or the surface is lying in XY plane then it should be mentioned in the lecture. The way coordinates are drawn is not clear from picture or the discussion.

I guess Pressure at A must be higher than Pressure at B... If that's the case then the manometer that professor drew for the case was wrong. If you switch that, then the equation which you derive will make sense.

when he is talking about pressure measurement at inclined plane why does pressure at point "B" is greater, as mercury level is higher in limb A? somebody...? 7.24
@lalitdogra228 жыл бұрын
It's been 7 months now. I hope you might have got your answer but if you have not, I got this one bro ;) .. See, when ending the previous lecture our dear teacher showed the direction of flow opposite to the one he shows here. He made the fluid flow from lower level to higher level but he didn't complete the derivation because of the lack of time. Now when he started off with this lecture, he changed the flow direction (probably unknowingly) and that also confused me a bit but this is what I concluded in the end.

at 4.41 flow in an inclined pipe where pressure is maximum at which point a or b??
@RajeshSharma-yz4dh4 жыл бұрын
at B
@MrAbhinavgour2 жыл бұрын
Here the flow is due to static head difference and not due to Static Pressure difference. So pressure at B is higher than A unlike the case in horizontal pipe.

NO. we cause rise take place in other limb And the section take as the miniscus of limb B ,above that section only liquid is present , so we take only rho(w)*g*(x+y)
