That is the approximation taken by WKB. And this is also the limitation of this method if this condition does not satisfy then WKB approximation fails.

I do not agree at 19:00. How can we neglect the highest order term so easily? I mean consider the following you have ax^2+bx+c. now solve this to x=... and let a go to zero. thats similar to what happens at 19:00. But if you wirte x=... down you will see, this cause some serious problems if you let a-->0.

ChrissiM90 First of all, second derivative is not equivalent to a quadratic term with power two. Secondly, the assumption is that F is slowly varying such that you can ignore the second order derivative and make the other terms in combination give zero. The aim was to find such an F. That's what I understand here ! Cheers

@chrissiM90 X^2 and X'' are not the same thing. derivative tells about the slop of function. if he is already assuming that F is slowly varying function in this case, X'' can be ignored.
