While drawing streak line, in unsteady flow, why velocity direction changed? It's actually velocity magnitude na?

If the flow is uniform, won't it be that the streamline, the pathline and the streakline will be same?

No, only for steady flows

what are the units of co ordinates of eularian flow field ... and why simply dx/dt = velocity component in x-direction because this is not particle approach
@yashwanthvenkata918
@yashwanthvenkata918 5 жыл бұрын
spatial coordinates have the units of length and yes it is a particle approach at a given point in space whose axis system doesnot move along with the particle at that point

Did not understood as cylindrical polar coordinate systems ?In most of books continuity eqn is explained with the help of cylindrical polar coordinates.

watch prof. harbola's engg mechanics nptel lectures to understand velocity and acceleration in polar coordinates. Explained in the best way and that course is very basic to learn all other mechanical engineering subjects including FM. I really mean it.

Sir, Why Du/Dt? why not du/dt? are they different?

+Sheela Sharma It's not actually,just for not confusing it and for emphasizing that you are taking a material derivative.

+Sheela Sharma , hello Du/Dt refers to total velocity change rate only and du/dt refers to rate of velocity change only w.r.t time according to sk som sir's assumption .
@Amitkumar-tw9ye
@Amitkumar-tw9ye 6 жыл бұрын
Du/Dt refers to material derivative.it implies to following a fluid particle as it moves through the flow field.

@nsai3757 5 жыл бұрын
Hello, Du/Dt refers to TOTAL RATE OF CHANGE OF VELOCITY which is a sum of local accleration and convective accleration .since velocity is a function of space and time...so Du/Dt will be function of space and time (chain rule)...where as du/dt is only a part of Du/Dt i.e., only convective accleration. visualise and practice some examples to get clarity.
