Great mod guide ! My suggestion would be to maybe cut in a few closeups - I'm thinking, for one example, where Luke was pointing at the various terminals on the Mosfet, which was difficult to make out at that "default view" when watching on a phone. Other than that, a really concise, informative guide - and I'm glad to see Luke also struggled with the main switch and magazine "clip" when putting it back together, as thats always the biggest problem I have with mine !! 😁
@toaditoad16563 жыл бұрын
Please use fixed focus because in the segment of soldering the mosfet board it was very distracting when it switches from focused hands to board and back again. Other than that, very good video. Just modded my trans red hurricane to lipo, wished the video was up a few weeks ago ;)

I have so many switches that I just click for fun, I know what you mean Luke! I watched this video in a few parts as I don't have a Hurricane myself, I'm just curious. The fact that it says what sections are where on the timeline is pretty useful and a nice touch that I am starting to see more often on KZbin now. I learned most of my modding skills from Drac back in the day but change my motor-soldering style depending on how the blaster needs to go together, both ways are right ways! The autofocus was a little confusing but as a professional filmmaker I'm sure you will be able to fix this easily. Well done on your first (I think) tutorial with the new setup! P.S. "If you don't have helping hands at this point, you probably need some help" hilarious! 🤣

Yup, I made the mistake of using one of these Mini-MOSFETS with 16 gauge wire. I DID manage to get it to work, but real talk: 18 gauge only. XD it was just frustrating and I soldered onto the surface like mentioned in the video. That said, I love the product, and will definitely be using them for future projects.

@outofdarts Жыл бұрын
First, make sure the shells are clamped together properly. If that doesn't fix the issue, you can use a a small loop of tape on the inner metal barrel for a firmer friction fit. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions: outofdarts.com/pages/contact

Hey, Luke, how does the inner metal barrel stay put? Seems like a twice-used or factory-defective dart could put force on it and (after enough of them) push it out the end of the ABS outer barrel.
@garys-6173 жыл бұрын
Its a good fit on its own, but once it's in place in the blaster and the two halves of the shell are well screwed together on it, its trapped tightly. I doubt a dart could ever force the inner barrel out - and if the dart itself was that "defective", it would most likely jam in the flywheels anyway. A non-issue 😁

DO NOT BEND THE CONNECTOR ON THE LIPO ALARM!!! the extended grip pieces that are sold on OOD's website ARE NOT AS DEEP as the one shown in the video, and there is not enough clearance for both sides of the connector, the wires, and the alarm. Mine snapped off after taking the battery cover off twice, and now needs to be replaced. Edit: OOD customer support is great. They worked with me to solve my issue. Still be wary of the connectors as I seem to have had a strange case.

Hey guys sorry to bother you, but i was just plinking with my stock red Hurricane (w/3.5v AA Lipo rechargeables) and noticed an issue. Ive had it for over a week and am using it carefully everyday and keeping it in an air tight ziplock bag but the relay switch that activates the flywheels when you advance the trigger sticks open and i have to physically push it back to it's resting position, turning off the flywheels. I want to open this thing as little as possible and would like to know if this is a common issue that is fixable with some compressed air or does it require disassembly and return spring replacement. I can't tell if the points at which the trigger pivots are beginning to stick or if it's the spring thats responsible for returning the trigger home that has weakened. I really don't have the hours in this hobby to confidently just open it and mess around

Given the danger in those batteries would it not be better to use a 12V power tool battery and they are small and have 3D printed holders?
@toaditoad16563 жыл бұрын
As Luke said in the beginning, they can be dangerous, if you not handle them right. The power tool batteries are way to big and can be dangerous too.
@samanthapowell58823 жыл бұрын
@@toaditoad1656 a 3S battery pack is the exact same 12v as the power tool battery and they are small! Your point was what?
@AirzonesBlasters3 жыл бұрын
@@samanthapowell5882 Tool packs use low discharge rate 18650 cells, RC packs use high discharge rate cells. The burst demand on the packs can be anywhere from 50a to 260a, and quite often the protection circuitry in the tool packs won't handle that sort of current. The form factor and capacity of the average tool battery doesn't come close to the selection of form factors and capacities that are available for RC packs, and therefore you can select a pack that will fit inside a hurricane grip, or a larger pack that sits in a battery stock depending on your specific need.
@samanthapowell58823 жыл бұрын
@@AirzonesBlasters you do realize that power tool battery are made for high output drill motors right? Look into the M12 Fuel battery pack it is small and would fit inside the handle!
@AirzonesBlasters3 жыл бұрын
@@samanthapowell5882 Lol. Be serious. That's like 3 x Samsung INR1865020R cells in series with a max 22a discharge rate. That little pack will sustain double that, and burst double again. In order to get any comparable performance you will need at least 3s2p - or 2 of your M12's in parallel otherwise you'll be wallowing in voltage sag. In the meantime, your opponents flywheels will get up to speed in half the time, and you're tagged out. Considering the hurricane grip is sized to take a pair of 14500's only.. You'll need an interesting way to insert 3 naked 18650's, let alone with all the Milwaukee junk around the outside. But I tell you what, show us a pic with the M12 inside a hurricane grip. If you haven't got one, you've got a rectangular cavity about 32 x 28mm to play with. Nearly everyone uses RC packs for a reason.
