As an atheist,I kinda despise religion for the present hateful and anti intellectual form it has taken in the current world but I take a keen interest in philosophy and social sciences and politics. This lecture has genuinely given me a very insightful and refreshing take on religion and politics. I still despise the fundamentalist form that religion manifests into in politics and society but I can really appreciate religion in some form being a mirror of our aspirations and an expression of our pain perspective too. Great lecture.

Very well explained sir but I have a question regarding Lenin's views about religion. Contrary to what you explained in the video, there is a statement associated to him: "Atheism is an integral part of Marxism. Consequently a class-conscious Marxist party must carry on propaganda in favour of atheism." And also, in one of his essays named something like 'Lenin on religion', he expresses the same views, saying, "Down with religion long live atheism. To spread atheist views is our main task." What's your take on this????

نقد ونظر ڈاکٹر تیمور صاحب مارکس کے اس قول کہ مذہب عوام کی افیون ہے کی تشریح کرتے ہوئے فرماتے ہیں کہ مارکس کی تھیوری درست ہے کیونکہ مارکس کہتا ہے کہ دین و مذہب مظلوم کی آہ ہے یہ مظلوم کو تشفی و تسلی دیتا ہے اور افیون اس لیے اس نے کہا کہ افیون پہلے دور میں جسم کو سٗن کرنے کے لیے استعمال ہوتی تھی جس سے تکلیف کم ہو جاتی تھی ۔۔۔دین بھی مظلوم کے لیے یہی کام کرتا ہے پس دین افیون ہے ایسا کہنے میں کوئی حرج نہیں ۔۔ جواب ۔ مارکس کا نظریہ تھا کہ دین سرمایہ دار طبقہ کی ایجاد ہے لوگوں کو روحی طور پر کنٹرول کرنے کے لیے دین و مذہب ایجاد کیا گیا سرمایہ دار طبقہ نے دین کو ایجاد کیا تاکہ عوام کو ایک طرح کہ نشے کی حالت میں کیا جائے کہ گویا ایسا کریں کہ یہ ظالم کے خلاف کھڑے نہ ہو سکیں ۔۔۔وہ کیسے ؟ اس طرح کہ اگر لوگ ظلم و ستم کے خلاف کھڑا ہونا چاہیں تو انہیں مذہب کے وسیلے سے اس طرح تسلی دی جائے کہ آپ پریشان نہ ہوں ایک خدا ہے قیامت ہے وہاں پر خدا ظالموں سے حساب لے گا اور ان کو آگ میں جلائے گا اگر پھر بھی کوئی اس پر مطمئن نہ ہو تو مذہب اس کو قضاء و قدر سے مطمئن کر دے گا کہ بھئی تمہاری قسمت میں ہی یہی لکھا تھا تمہارے نصیب میں ہی ایسا تھا خدا نے یہ دکھ تمہارے نصیب میں لکھ دئیے تھے ۔۔۔کافر کی بہشت یہی دنیا ہے اور مومنین کی بہشت آخرت میں ہے وغیرہ وغیرہ۔۔۔۔اگر ایسا ہو تو مذہب لوگوں کے لیے تسلی و مظلوم کی آہ ہی ہوگا اپنے نصیب سے جنگ تو نہیں کی جا سکتی اور معاشرے کو تسلی و تشفی ہو جائے گی اور دین لوگوں کے لیے افیون کا کام کرے گا ۔۔۔ تو یہ ہے مارکس کی تھیوری نہ یہ کہ وہ حقیقت میں دین و مذہب کو قبول کرتا ہے بلکہ اس کا ماننا ہے کہ دین انسان کو کمزور کر دیتا ہے اور یہ سرمایہ دار طبقہ کی ایجاد ہے ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔
