I'd be interested in a mod comparison episode showing the advantages/disadvantages of AE2 vs Refined Storage.
@Mirality7 жыл бұрын
Landon Kryger Looks like mostly the difference is that this doesn't do channels, which is a matter of taste whether that's an advantage or disadvantage. And it counts number of items only, not types of items (so, better for storing non-stacking items). Also it does have fluid storage and doesn't have spatial storage, while AE2 was the opposite (not sure if that's still true in 1.10 though).
@any1alive7 жыл бұрын
as he said abotu channels, but also refined storage uses mroe power
@landonkryger7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know about those, but a explicit video about it would still be nice. Storage wise, it seems like AE2 holds a ton more for the "same size" chip.
@Mirality7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. An AE2 1k storage cell can hold 8128 of one item, or 4095 total of 63 different types of items that can stack to 64, or 63 total non-stackable items. A RS 1k storage cell can hold exactly 1000 items, regardless of stackability. So RS is the clear winner for non-stackable items (eg. mob farming where they drop equipment), with AE2 winning for normal items. But then you need to balance that against how fun you find the channel system.
@Twisted_Code7 жыл бұрын
The differences as far as I'm aware are as follows: cheaper recipes, no channel system, no "item type" constraint on items stored (but less total storage for stackable items in exchange), no spatial storage, item placers/breakers, and flexible redstone control. if you still think there needs to be a video (and I'll admit a video covering this in more detail would be nice, though possibly a little excessive), maybe you should be the one to make it?

One thing you should mention is that you can disassemble disks by shift right clicking with them in hand, so you can extract the storage component. This way you can consume your lesser, early built disks to build bigger ones (eg if you have 3 1k disks, you can take out the 3 storage components and use them to build a 4k)
@hunternewberry58605 жыл бұрын
Does that destroy the items on them?
@JavierSegura5 жыл бұрын
@@hunternewberry5860 A disk will only disassemble with shift right click if it's empty. Also, disassembling a disk just creates 2 items, the Storage Housing and the Storage Part. So you don't have to craft all the items again and can just add the upgrade.

@z-beeblebrox7 жыл бұрын
Because AE2 originally wasn't going to be ported to 1.10 So this was basically a ground-up clone so people who like AE2 could have it in the current version. Now that AE is most likely going to be updated, it's not clear what will happen to this mod.

z beeblebrox If they could bring back the old MAC from AE1... i would dump AE2. I really dislike all those cables everywhere.
@Rob02l7 жыл бұрын
Use the Ender IO conduits. They have both standard and dense conduit can it can run along side item, power, and fluid in a single block space that is then covered with the painted conduit facade. VERY tight, clean cabling.
@worldgate9897 жыл бұрын
Rob O'toole Yea but that has nothing to do with AE2 having to run multiple cables that have varying amounts of data they can run. Plus those molecular chambers, the MAC was so much better.

Even though this is clearly a rip off version of AE, I would consider it a successor of AE for the time that AE is still in alpha for 1.10+. Until recently, the only real modding experience i have had was Life in the Woods, which is a good mod pack, don't get me wrong, I love it. I think the most complicated thing in it was carpenters blocks or maybe storage drawers. Then I came across Dataless822 playing All The Mods, and I showed this to my bf, and he's all I wants it, so we got it. I have been Sooooo Lost trying to figure out all the systems! Overwhelmed much. So we made our own modpack, and heavily slimmed down version, and I have Refined Storage, EnderIO, and Extra Utils 2 as well as a couple of others. Looking at the list of things in JEI regarding this mod has had me nervous but I think you have helped me considerably. I'm sure I am still going to be pulling hair, but at least now I have something I can refer to when I get hung up on something. Thank you. New to your channel, and new sub :)

The ability to emit a redstone signal when autocrafting is requested is *really* powerful - it makes it much easier to do more sophisticated things than with AE2! Like, you could set up a "recipe" that makes cobble with no ingredients, and when you request it it uses that redstone signal to trigger a cobblestone generator. Or build one of those Botania rune autocrafting contraptions and trigger it when you request a Botania rune. So many possibilities!
