Mod - Under Guard MBW033 for Kyosho Mini-Z Inferno MP9 MB-010S - Pt. 3a

I install the Under Gaurd MBW033 for the Kyosho Mini-Z Inferno MP9 MB-010S 1/28 Scale TKI3 Readyset 4wd RC Buggy. Like all mini-z cars, the Inferno MP9 runs on 4 AAA NiMH or alkaline batteries. Finally, I drive the buggy on my backyard track and discus how I built the track and how much it cost.

I bought the MB-010VE 2.0 and it comes with this part but frustratingly they don’t drill the holes so it’s another thing I need to buy (tiny drill bits) that I’ll probably never use again. I wonder if they will ever release an MB-020 with updated chassis or maybe someone will release an aftermarket chassis made of carbon fibre. That would be awesome.

You may be surprised how often you use them once you have them. I got a nice set on Amazon and I don’t think I paid more than $10 or $15. Start with a bit that is much smaller than you think is needed. You can always drill again with larger bits. Best of luck! And, thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! BTW, I found a Kyosho front bumper... it's part of a pack of parts. And, I figured out a simple mod that greatly improves it. I'll cover this in an upcoming video.

@@MyRCChannel-CJScott Thanks! Yeah, I would love to know what this is.. my bumper just showed up today for both mine and my sons buggy. I bought a 3d printed one on e-bay and it was beautiful, however the screws were a touch too long and caused binding in the front diff when installed. So, he actually took the listing down (others had the same issue). I like the stock one that just showed up, tho a little flimsy.

@@travisharrisphotography I cut a piece of carbon fiber tubing (inner dia 1mm, outer dia 3mm) the width of the front track... the stock bumper is a little narrow. I glued the tubing to the angled front lip of the bumper with gap filling CA. If that turns out to be inadequate, I'll drill some .5mm holes in the bumper and wire tie the carbon tubing to the bumper and reglue. This will be covered in an upcoming video.

@@MyRCChannel-CJScott Excited to see that one! That sounds like a great idea! Maybe some JB Weld would also be a good option. I have used that in my sailplanes motor mount for years and that is as strong of a bond as you can get.

@@travisharrisphotography Yes, JB Weld might do a good job on this as well... just use it sparingly to keep the weight down. The bumper sticks out a good distance and to much weight will make it into a pendulum on the front end.

Also there's a website that I can't think of at the moment while I'm driving. I think the operate out of California but they specialize in mini z parts and the PN racing parts.

@@bluecrabnitroracing4499 Yeah, I've been a customer of theirs for years. Well, at least during the years when I've been active in Mini-Z. There used to be a hobby store near me that had racing, but they went out of business, oh +-6 years ago. So I sold the lot on ebay. Then a shop/off-road track setup a big mini-z track so I'm buying back in. You bet... I'm waiting for an order of parts from Hong Kong that "should" have a bumper... but I may just design one in CAD and print it out.
