RM Sotheby's supposdely got removed from Amelia and went to Miami and it may be a case of sour grapes for those booted by the snobs in Amelia... I have been in Amelia all week and will continue through Sunday. It is still the flagship weekend for the east coast.... Bonhams, Werks Reunion, Concorse, Gooding auction, Cars and Coffee...

Hagerty is responsible for giving Festivals of Speed, RM Sothebys and a couple others the boot. The Amelia Island Concours has been going downhill since Hagerty took it over. As soon as I heard what RM Sothebys was doing, I said it would bury the Amelia and it is so far by a longshot.

@@MW-uy3npBasically, hagerty booted everyone that competed with their event... makes sense but yeah, it's ruining that weekend up there for a lot including me... I wonder if Gooding and Company will move their auction to Miami in the coming years. The cars for sale this year were subpar from years past...

That's just the downside when it comes to these concours type events. Unless you're entering your car, it doesn't make sense for the average Joe. But I do understand the other side too. Rich people love exclusivity n pricier tickets n more folks from that criteria means they'll be more happy to open their wallets to try n outdo each other. Besides, they have to be able to recoup the costs involved in booking that rad hotel n the entire premises, the lights n sounds teams, performers, food n beverages etc n let's be honest, you n I are not gonna waste hundreds of dollars for a glass of champagne or aged wine even if we can afford it. They'd also not want the f*ckboys coming in n doin donuts or havin a review battle on the premises either, which can be seen at events like the Pebble Beach Concours these days. However , it would be great if they'd open the doors to the public for a short duration towards the end of the event at least so that petrolheads with smaller means can get to see these beauties in the flesh.

This event combines events like a Concours and Festivals of Speed, ups the game to an entirely new level and is so far setting a new bar that just isn't going to be matched on the East Coast.

Great video John. Out of all of the Lambos, I have to say the Diablo is my favorite. It just looks so menacing and has such beautiful lines. I had commented a while back that a friend had owned the 1 of 20 Diablo Monterey SV in candy apple red (i don't know the real color term). It was just beautiful. Best of luck with the upcoming show. I'm sure it will be Fantastic.

Just don't go setting up on the west coast. That's when things always change with a company. They go to California and then their values and ideals change and the business dies. I've been following you all for years. Probably one of your longest subscribers since you had less that 500 subscribers when I originally joined. I love that you all are right here in Florida and still grinding away at making Miami even more of an automotive mecca than any other place on the planet. Great job everyone. Especially John always telling stories on VinWiki. Growing the brand.
