Amazing, effective, clear teaching. Thanks for putting this out there for free.

I make music but have never been educated in music. I’d like to thank you as I’ve just tried a technique here and I’ve started to flesh out a new piece of music that I would never have achieved- many thanks

What a cool lesson. I'm trippin watchin and head scratchin love it

Watched it a second time there. Give us more modulation tricks please, even the obvious (to you) stuff. Every comment you make, even when spitballing about your own moves in the composition you are playing back is so informative.

ex.5 is amazing. "..F#, where I wanted to go with, why not" 👍🏼 I'm going to practice this example and create a song/theme with it.

I love the sound of these. Because I never formally studied or learned to read music, it's a bit weird for me to conceptualize this as "respelling." I guess I'm a feral musician. 🙂

LOL! Feral musician is a hilarious way to put it, from a fellow feral musician.

Man, Ive been trying to subtly steal one of these sequences/progressions all day but i just cant get mine to sounds as cool as yours without absolutely ripping you off. lol. guess i keep trying.

@@davidasher22 in your defense, I suspect I’m ripping someone off as well, though I’m not sure how.

@@ImpliedMusic. I was trying too hard to avoid sounding like my typical self while also not just ripping off what you were doing verbatim. You know the struggle. I did eventually write something based on the lesson you gave me-still a work in progress. By the way, I was listening to your music on the Implied website today. Good stuff! I really liked that 3-song EP-Esalant Sky? Something like that. Both albums are great. They’re similar to the stuff I’ve been writing lately. I’ve been doing the cinematic/orchestral music as a hobby, and hopefully, I can score some indie stuff soon. I’ve been honing my skills for almost two years now with cinematic music. I come from a rock background and toured and played live a lot, especially in jazz and blues bands as I got older-some funk and Motown too. But have always written original music. Now I’m into the orchestral stuff. I was wondering, do you offer online lessons or anything like that? Maybe something similar? It flows well and stays true to your voice while keeping things clear and engaging. How’s that feel to you? Also, I’m glad to hear you’re diving into cinematic music! Scoring indie films could be a great opportunity. It seems like you’ve really evolved musically from rock to orchestral work. If you’re looking for lessons or feedback, I could try and help you with advice or exercises!
