can i use rs485 device sensor without master modbus?

Dear Rembo: Long Answer: Stay with RS485/UART, as it is most commonly used solution. If you have advance knowledge of Interfaces then you can you other serial communication protocols too. The communication model could be as per usability and design choice. master slaves is most commonly used one. then you can have publish-subscriber and message queue's etc.. but as Industry trend minimum could be a single M-S connection.
