Modded Old Otis Traction Elevators at The VERY VINTAGE Satellite Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO

This place is BY FAR one of the most OUTDATED and Most RETRO-Looking Hotels I've ever been to! The Exterior, Signage and just everything about this place SCREAMS 1950s/1960s!!! When I found out about this place online, I KNEW that I had to stop here and I'm definitely glad I did! This place is SO OLD SCHOOL that the locks for the rooms don't even use sliding keys! Just household locks! VERY RARELY do you ever see that in a Hotel anymore!
Unfortunately, even though this Hotel is for the most part totally unrenovated from when the place opened in 1969, the same cannot be said about the elevators. The elevators here were all modded with Custom Otis Series 1 in the Mid 1990s with the exception being the Service Elevator which was modded much more recently with Green Otis Series M2 VR.
The Elevators here seem to have all new equipment from when they were modded (new controllers and motors), however, even though all of the equipment was replaced, THANKFULLY the cabs are original as they fit in with the VINTAGE & RETRO Feel this property has! Not to mention, the wallpaper surrounding the COP appears to be original, and the original phone box and vintage Otis lanterns are also still original and in use as well! Really the only aesthetic upgrades were the fixtures, call stations and Indicators, but otherwise, the elevators look very vintage as well!
I know this video isn't exactly the best, but this place appears to double as an apartment building, and because there were cameras EVERYWHERE, I was kind of nervous about getting busted.
Overall though, the elevators here were definitely REALLY COOL, and VERY Vintage Looking and surprisingly fit into the place very well, even though they were modded. I do wish these elevators were still original though, these probably had Lexan or Black Buttons originally....
With that being said, enjoy some VERY TASTEFULLY Modded Old Otis Elevators in what is a VERY VINTAGE & Antiquated Looking Hotel in the outskirts of Colorado Springs!
Installed in 1969. (Old Otis with either Lexan/Halo or Black Button fixtures)
Modernized in Circa Mid to Late 1990s. (Otis with Early Newer Custom Series 1 fixtures, New Motors, New Controllers, Series 2 call stations in the lobby and EPCO/ADAMS call stations on the upper floors. Cabs, phone box and lanterns and door tracks and doors left as is.) (Service Elevator was modded in Circa 2010s with Series M2 Fixtures, all New Equipment including a New Phone and New Lanterns, but it features its original cab as well.)

That's a special place. The condo owners operate the hotel. I'd actually forgotten this amazing place. I'm so glad it's still the same!
