Fun Facts; You need a JIS or equivalent “Phillips” for any Japanese “Phillips” because Phillips are not the same. I have Vessel impacta’s and they are awesome, I use em for regular Phillips even. Don’t use eBay jets, they aren’t oem jets and can vary one or more sizes (say you grab 4 130 jets, you could have a 130, 2 125’s, and a 137.5 all labeled 130.) Use Mikuni Jets for Mikuni Carbs, Keihin Jets for Keihin carbs, ect. Also never jam anything in there because it will change the jet “size” by either enlarging the hole or leaving a burr creating turbulence of gas effectively making it a smaller size. Compressed air or liquids only. You also know it’s an oem jet if it has either the Mikuni or Keihin symbol stamped on it. They are also usually duller in color than the fakes. Use a screwdriver that fits perfectly. Nothing sucks more than a rounded flathead an 1” down into a hole, taking a few minutes to find the right one or hell even going to your nearest tool store or hardware etc is faster than trying to extract a stuck jet. Heat helps tremendously too but if your carb has any gas in it whatsoever (like hasn’t been sitting in a gallon of carb dip for the past day) it’s a terrible idea of course. Ps; That bolt hole goes to one of the carb bolts

Great vid. Picking up my Dr200s tonight. Will be following along with your mods. A trick for those Japanese JIS screws is to take a cheap phillips interchangeable drill bit( unless you want to damage a screwdriver) and take it to a grinding wheel just ever so gently, removing some of the tip of the phillips bit. It'll help! Thanks for the videos!!!!

Place the jis screw driver into the head and give each screw a light but solid tap at the back of the screw driver handle with a light hammer or the handle of a 12" crescent wrench. Caustic thank you for providing such an informative video. Looking forward to part 3. I too bought a cheapie dr200 all stock with 348 miles. Doesn’t idle for crap though. Unfortunately I watched your vid “ after” I bought the Sigma stage 1 jet kit. they gave me 40 pilot instead of a 37.5. Do I now need to drill holes in the air box to get the right mixture or can I leave it stock?
@Caustic2254 жыл бұрын
Paul S L If you haven’t already played with the fuel adjustment screw I’d say go for it. Even if you swap jets to the 37.5 you will still want it done especially with an aftermarket exhaust. It’s as easy as drilling holes in your air filter cap. You can start with a smaller drill bit and test that before you work your way up. With a bigger jet tho, you may need a bit more air flow. You could try to see if it runs well without the cap if you are unsure of drilling into the air box cap. I hope that helps and good luck. Thanks for the comment!

It has been noted on other posts that streetable bikes must have steel tanks, per state or federal laws. Don't know much about that but, if its true, you may get stuck with not passing state inspection if you live in such a state as I do, Pennsylvania. Just a thought if you are getting or already have plates for it. Thought about it myself as part of a weight loss program for my DS200, but haven't researched it yet.

Caustic Bro!!! Keep watching your video about modding DR200. Ordered the kits off your Channel. Confused about needle shim? It shows on diagram drawing that came with it to just slide washer onto needle then put it back into carb. You put it under the clip. I dont have room for that to happen. 2019 DR200. Maybe different? Im Stranded!!!! When is Part 3 Coming out? LOL
@Caustic2254 жыл бұрын
ichibangrom the 2019 should be the same as the 2015. I don’t think there are carb differences. The metal washer shim needs to be between the C-clip and the white plastic washer. It just gaps the needle correctly. It doesn’t really matter how you get it on there, whether you take the C-clip off and put on the metal washer on or slide the white plastic washer down and off and slide the metal washer on. Either way it will be in the same position. Hope this helps. And part 3 is in the works. It got pushed back but will definitely have a new episode coming. 😎

I'm 6'0" 265 and the bikes aren't fast but they keep up with traffic just fine, it's a great bike for 40~50 mph cruising and it's comfortable. I've taken mine on 20 mile interstate trips and I don't like pushing the bike past 60 as it's revving pretty high. Top speed is around 75 for my weight and it would probably be higher for lower lb riders. The best thing about the bike is it's not super tall like the KTM 640 I had which was tip toes at a stop light, and the Suzuki is extremely nimble, you can throw the bike around with ease plus it gets 225+ miles out of a full tank.
