After smashing, repairing and modding my wizard many times i learnt a few things. 1: frame is poor quality and breaks easy 2: you need the side plates to help reinforce the top plate to stop it cracking and breaking so easily. 3: you'll just end up replacing every part in order to upgrade to make it better and eventually replace the frame and end up not having a wizard at all. Negative comments aside, its a great starting place to learn to fly, repair, upgrade and eventually just build your own drones.

Thank you guys so much for including some of the frustrating parts that come with the hobby is good that you guys did not cut those parts Out Because those scenarios where parts don't work And take the quad apart multiple times is all part of this great and amazing hobby and learning I like that you guys did not sugarcoat any part of the modifying on this wizard

It's interesting, as the RR crew are replicating the same updates I made to my old Wizard. Although I never had issues with the ESC's I was lucky to acknowledge the fact they wouldn't handle the F60 pros I put on it.

Good video, I know lots of people are saying it would of been handy to have this video a few years ago and you guys don't necessarily want to be promoting this; but I'm really enjoying the series. Not only are you guys showing how to make the most of a cheap kwad which IMO is super important as when you do spend money on a good components you've mastered your soldering skills etc and just have more confidence but also its a sort of collaboration kwad too will be super interesting to see where the little cheap feller ends up :) Yeah lots of parts broke which is crap but also it really shows you how to repair your kwad (very important) great work Jeff!

tbh I bought one to learn as it was pretty much complete package to try the hobby out...... it got me hooked ! I also learned a lot and still fly the frame (only original component) and it lives on quite happily I will say changing the prop pitch will pretty much guarantee the stock esc's to go off but it's not like they would be on there long anyhow! to sum up, if you are an old hand you aren't interested BUT this little quad DOES bring new blood to the hobby so all in all it is a positive thing great video and best wishes :)

If I had watched this as a noob with my wizard I would’ve been more confused on what to do and how you did it after watching this.1st series was was ok but I think the wizard left there worse then the way it came in besides the tramp vtx wich was wired for telemetry but don’t know if it works cause you didn’t have access to BF!!😂 3 of the same esc’s and1 diff that you now subbed off to Drew and ditch the side plates. The switchin to 4K 4K without showing will leave most new pilots scratching their head. I guess if anything I learned how to cut up my extra props to cover shifty esc’s......and to check my nuts every cpl days.

Potentially a Firmware update is needed on esc to get it to work and to balance them, let the esc cool and dont cover them up fully, prop pitch is way to much for 20a and if the side covers fit and work dont be lazy fit them back on its protection. Dont swap motors around no need! This is an advert for the rotter riot shop and that is the only reason you are doing this. They have always hated on eachine, the wizard is a great way to get into the hobby with loads of really helpful videos and support including a facebook page. The wizard allows you to understand if you want to progress into an expensive hobby. Rotor riot are kicking themselves they didnt think of it first but are riding the wave. I have wizard and its not as painful as watching this video.

"by by bottom plate" by the end I could have built a $500 machine... surprisingly the 200mwh vtx is impressive flying clearer and further than ever expected 1 of 3 original pieces to go next. great series, if youre about to buy a wizard, as soon as it ships order some new esc's. maybe even a cheapo 4 in 1 esc, and also a bag of dal 5046x3 props from your local seller. dont buy a bunch of 3s batteries, you'll outgrow them within a couple of hours flying easily. also one of the first mods you should do is the vtx and rx antennas,, vtx straight out the back and one rx straight up and the other straight out the back, reinforce them with heatshrink and extra cable ties for sstiffness... you will be crashing a lot and these need some extra beef to survive.

Did he wire the signal wire wrong on the esc and that's why it didn't work? I've done that before a couple times. A way you can tell it by feeling the motor on boot up and if the motor does the first boot but no second synchronize beep then the signal is messed up. If it doesn't boot at all then it's an esc.

TeddyGun300 I explain that in the very beginning. With it being so cheap, it’s probably the most common first drone out there. The point isn’t to encourage people to buy it. We don’t even carry it. The point is to give new pilots some guidance on how to improve it if they’ve already bought it.

Stock props were 5030. Putting 5050 props overloaded and smoked the escs. Especially on 3S I flew my wizard for months on 3S and 5030 props. As soon as i switched to 4s and 5046 smoked 2 escs in a day and 2 motors in a week Regular 220 is not good for 4s or more prop without upgrading escs and motors.

A good upgrade is to soft mount the flight controller. It only costs 4$ and made a big difference on my wizard. No special tool or soldering needed for this mod. A low ESR capacitor costs 1 $ makes a difference on handling and video quality but requires soldering. A free upgrade is to wire the voltage battery to the FC. For 1$ you can also add a buzzer, it will make it easier to find the quad after a crash, and can warn you that the battery is low. And Yes change the 4 X ESC. At first I replaced the ones that would burn and I ended up buying 3 pieces in about 2 hours of flight. I wish replaced them on the first one that burned. It is unfortunate but this mod makes the Wizard much more expensive but unless you are very very very lucky there is no way the original ESCs will last.
@alainassaf
@alainassaf 6 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I just remembered. Keep those side plates, they have a structural role and are not just there to prevent dust. You could break the top or bottom plate in crash without them. If you want to remove them I recommend using shorter standoffs.

Try swapping the guts into something that doesn't weigh 50lbs. It was my first quad, and after building a Chameleon with t-motor 2207's, I'm looking for a light frame that will let these motors actually do something. Maybe a light floss or something similar.

My wizard has been rolling for over a year now and the ESCs are still alive and the original props have never shattered or split on me :P My wizard must have been like the super prototype not intended to be sold and someone got fired for having put that in a box and not on a shelf :D

yes you have VTX telemetry. Smart Audio is just one language of VTX telemetry. Tramp has its own language, its just not called Smart Audio

How about taking an old lead, a Qav 180 or something and putting new bits on it to see if at all it can be helped/improved.

can someone explain what gyro and pid loop rate updates do? why would i want to increase it to 4khz from what it already is
@xerovolume3321
@xerovolume3321 6 жыл бұрын
With a low gyro sampling frequency, only low frequencies of change in rotation speed can be reliably detected. This is due to the nyquist limit. However, signals of high frequency dont disappear. Instead, they sort of "roll over" and get detected as low frequency signals. This is called aliasing. Quadcopters really only care about low frequencies in the gyro signal. They show rotation of the craft caused by the motors, wind and so on. High frequencies are mostly caused by motor vibrations. They dont matter and we want to ignore them. This is why we filter them out using softmounting, low pass filters, notch filters and more. However, aliasing can cause high frequency noise to be picked up by the gyro as low frequency signals. Since low frequency signals are important, they pass all filters and the pid loop thinks the quad is really rotating. The resulting attempt to compensate just causes real low frequency vibration. High gyro sampling rates solve this problem: High frequency noise is properly detected as such and eliminated using digital filters that do not alias the noise into other frequency ranges. Examples are the low pass filter and the notch filter.

dang a lot of haters in the comments in mind if you wanna fly fpv buy a tiny whoop and cheap box goggles once you get that down download a sim and practice acro then buy a vortex 250 used for like 150.00 and your on your way love the series think its best to also remind people that not everyone has 1k to drop to get into the hobby buy a dx6e box goggles and a inductrix. the dx6e will get you by until your ready for something better and fat sharks normally can get hd2s or 3s for like 300 used now with hdos making them obsolete. great vid vortex I think some people forget that so many people buy these have no idea really what they are getting

@@VORT3XFPV I see that. Opening statements did set the tone for the video tho about bothering with promoting another company's product. That told me you wasn't into it. Which is understandable as your trying to do rotor riot and not eachine

7passu It’s not that I don’t want to promote Eachine. They do have some good stuff. They’re newer wizards are better. Just this one in particular has known quality issues so we don’t recommend it as a first drone. But, with the price, a ton of people bought it already and still buy it today so we just want to help people not get frustrated with it and show them how to improve it and slowly upgrade until it’s on par with any typical build without dropping $400-500 all at once.
