You may have screwed the pcb assembly in too tight, which is why the board sounds so hollow and pingy. I recommend tightening the screws all the way, then turning each back a rotation and a quarter.

Thanks for the tip, you make a good point. I did notice that there were gasket washers on the screws to prevent screwing too tight so I just went at it 😂 Another possibility is that the lack of plate foam and/or case foam lead to the slight ping.

I would like to address the pinging in the sound tests. As someone mentioned in the comments, it is most likely a result of the two positioning screws being too tight. Without the screws or having them loosened, the pinging should no longer be present.

While it is a work of art, it is an aftermarket housing for the topre hhkb, not a kit or mechanical. Also the Tempo is way for available/affordable

Case foam or plate foam would probably help however as a comment mentioned, majority of the pinging is most likely due to me fastening the positioning screws too tightly. Having them loosened should alleviate the issue

​@@YBBK At the top of my head I'd quickly say the Sangeo60 & Arc60, although there's definitely higher end boards than these. Some limited 60s that offer a variety of layouts, include WKL & HHKB as "other layout options" so there's a very good chance to find better but lesser known hhkb layout endgames out there. I really dig the Tempo though, about time a reputable company like Mode started releasing different layouts in stock like this. Still wish I didn't miss out on the QK60 man

Mode boards anodization is kinda meh. So grainy, really not a fan and I own a Sonnet 😅

Never tried the sonnet before so I can’t say much haha, but from my experience so far, the tempo (atleast with the silver colourway) has one of the best anodized finishes
