My grandparents got married in the winter of 1961 and my granny had a longsleeved dress with lace in off-white, that she made by herself. My grandparents had like no money, but they loved eachother so much.... Unfortunately, my grandpa died in 1980 because of leukemia, so I never met him, but I'm sure, he would've loved to see me wearing Granny's dress at my own wedding next year, on their 60 year anniversary ❤️

When I was little I had fallen in love with this super pretty and old wedding dress in a thrift store, my parents had decided to get it for my birthday. I recently found out that the dress was from 1900-1910(Can't quite remember) and it had been passed down for a long time until the guy who donated it got it from his late mother and had decided to donate it because he and his husband didn't want kids but he didn't want to throw it away so he donated it in hopes that it could make someone else happy and maybe make it through a few more generations.

Ms.Queen105 _ Yeah, many were expected to. We didn't all do it. I used to hate going to Mary Kay parties. The make-up was so heavy. As a kid in the 1970s, I didn't dress like a flower child. In fact, that was associated with the 1960s. I wore bellbottom hiphugger jeans and platform shoes. In the 80s it was Gitano tight jeans, eventually ankle-length, with boat shoes or loafers. And a patterned top often with shoulder pads sewn in them. There was also a period in the mid to late 80s when baggy clothes were in, and I don't hear much about that beyond the silly balloon pants that I only ever saw on performers in rap videos.

What a nice way of saying it. Iconic. I was married in 81, before everything went hideous. But a friend was married later in the decade. She hates her gown to this day. Those styles looked horrible on 99.9 percent of the population. Iconic. Love it.
