Model 3 Frunk Spring Mod

What a great solution. Thank you. I've been really frustrated with how difficult it is to close the frunk on my recently acquired 2018 Model 3. Enough so to the point where I was about to plunk down $400 on a power frunk lift kit, which is really overkill based on my issue. This will be better.

What year is your M3? My 22 M3P looks way different underneath than that.

Your performance would look way different than mine under the frunk... You have and extra motor up there :)

I bought your recommended spring but after I opened the frunk lock cover, the locking mechanism is not similar to yours. Mine the spring is twist force and not tension (sorry I don't know exactly the correct term) and located inside the mechanism and not accessible without dismantling it. My M3 is 2021 refreshed delivered last Dec 2020.

I heard the 2021 was different! Crazy how that got changed. I haven’t heard of a mod for the refresh version yet.

Depends on the year. I think in 2021 the Model 3 and Y received "new" style latches that can't be modified.

Haha. If yours is 2020 or older this will work, if not you may want to look at modifying to a power frunk.
