Unlike in the past where most artists were limited to a single art form or industry, it is now common to see actors competing in music programs, idol stars taking lead roles in films and dramas, as well as newscasters and webtoon creators appearing on variety shows. Go Eun Kyoung is the godmother of Korea’s modeling industry who discovered some of the country’s most recognizable models including Cha Seung-won, Kang Dong-won, Byeon Woo-seok and Jang Ki-yong. She’s also one of the first people in Korea to recognize the potential of models to have successful side careers off the runway and is embarking on a new mission to promote this new breed of Korean models on the global stage. In this week’s edition of the Globalists, we sit down with Ko Eun Kyoung, the founder and CEO of modeling agency KPlus, to learn the secrets that are driving the success of Korean models and how they occupy a rare niche on runways across the globe.
