A fully automatic hotel room in London. There is a dispenser that provides you with everything that you need.
M/Ss on a wintery day as a red sports car drives in to the Master Robert Motel near London Airport; a young couple get out of the car and check in at the reception inside; the receptionist flicks a switch on a board to turn on the room service automat.
In the hotel room a man is filling a kind of vending machine with packets and bottles of food and drink; he leaves as the couple come in. Various shots show the man putting a red key into the 'Quickmaid' and pressing buttons to receive some cans of drink and a packet of peanuts from a flap at the base of the machine. He takes some ice from a little fridge and takes the drinks and nuts to the girl on the sofa.
At bedtime the girl (in a white nightie and negligee) gets some Colgate toothpaste from the machine; the man gets some cigarettes and a book, 'The Dirty Dozen' from the Quickmaid, then settles down in bed to smoke and read.
Note: great story for illustrating modern automation and the "serve yourself movement". Good for illustrating businessmen and honeymoon couples in hotels / motels. Good stuff about the "mini bar" - narrator observes: "just sit and think about the things you'd like - and forget you have to pay at the end." I know the feeling!
Cuts exist - see separate record.
