you've painted over every bit of glass. how do the crew carry out the task the vehicle was built for
@Big-Modeller2 жыл бұрын
This model is not yet finished. I haven't painted any glass over because there's no clear plastic in this model set. every visor and reflector has to be imitated somehow, but I will show this in the last episode of the series (I hope this day will come eventually ;)) So please calm down and relax, I've got it covered.

Do you use any thinners on the cloth when you clean the excess oil wash off ?
@Big-Modeller6 жыл бұрын
Usually it's not necessary. It depends on how long the oil is left for setting. It dries way longer than acrylics or enamels, 2 days or longer sometimes, so you have time to deal with it while it's still semi wet. But after this time you have to use a thinner.
@Juan-kk6kc6 жыл бұрын
That's useful information thank you. I have used an enamel wash by AK interactive but want to make my own. I have read many debates on which is the better thinner to dilute it with. I have some Bob Ross odourless thinner but not sure if it would be a suitable agent to use for diluting oil paint to make a wash with.
@Big-Modeller6 жыл бұрын
I use white spirit. It's cheap and you can buy it in big bottles ;).

Hi, nice job! Tank looks good. I just bought the same tank model today. Couple of questions: Does the gloss finish make the tank look too shiny? And how did you make the oil based wash? How long did you leave it on before wiping the wash off?
@Big-Modeller7 жыл бұрын
Good choice, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with this purchase :). As for the questions: - gloss finish is temporary. It's necessary to make the model's surface gloss before applying decals and wash. With those stages done I'll matt the surface again with the matt varnish. - oil based wash is simple - you put some oil paint for artists into a little container and add a lot of white spirit. I'm pretty sure I showed how I do it in some movies. - oil wash normally need a long time to dry (2-3 days) but you can shorten it to about 15 minutes with the hairdryer (be carefull not to set the air flow too hot, otherwise you can bend the plastic).

Świetna robota, oby więcej takich filmików. Po jakim czasie od naniesienia washa, go wycierasz?
@Big-Modeller7 жыл бұрын
PS. Wczoraj roztrzaskałem ten czołg o podłogę...

What paints did you use just so I can get them before I buy this kit looks really nice btw
@Big-Modeller6 жыл бұрын
I've used Tamiya XF-5 Flat Green and XF-27 Black Green, but the instructions suggests to use XF-5 and XF-61 Dark Green.
@tlw42375 жыл бұрын
@@Big-Modeller For a 1970/80s BAOR or UK-based Chieftain Tamiya’s colours are wrong. The overall scheme should be green and black, with hard-edges to the colour patches. Tamiya Nato black is OK, but the green was more like the British bronze green or olive colours used in 1944/45 than Tamiya’s Nato green which is a bit too dark. The paints were of the old coach-painter’s “synthetic” type and the finish was an almost matt satin. At least, it was when the paint was new. The colours tended to fade, especially the large areas of black which took on a kind of dark greyish tone. The usual masking medium seems to have been grease and the paint thinned with whatever hydrocarbon they had that could thin paint; even petrol. So small patches of the “wrong” colour tended to be randomly spread around. The guys who painted the tanks weren’t exactly careful about it, they weren't after a perfect finish but a newly (re)painted tank that was going to be driven cross-country by a driver and crew who weren’t worried about scratching the paint and knew the Chieftain could dent any gatepost or tree far harder than it could dent the Chieftain. It’s worth googling for images from that era to get a better idea of the colours and how they were used.
@Big-Modeller5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info. I tried to stick to the instructions (more or less) because of my lack of expertise in armored vehicles and the British ones especially ;)
@tlw42375 жыл бұрын
@@Big-Modeller Thanks. I have an in-law who used to be in REME and painted quite a few tanks back then. You’re right that finding information about British armour, especially for periods other than World War 2, often isn’t that easy, though the internet does make it much easier than it used to be. I think Tamiya’s green on green scheme might have come about because in some photographs the fading black does have a greenish tint to it and from a distance green and black seems to merge into two shades of the same dark colour. It was a very effective way to break up the tank’s outline.

@Big-Modeller8 жыл бұрын

@Big-Modeller7 жыл бұрын
Przed kalkami i brudzeniem trzeba nałożyć na model błyszczący lakier. Do ścierania olejnego washa wystarczy sucha szmatka i patyczki - no chyba że pozwolimy washowi porządnie wyschnąć (schnie czasami kilka dni) to wtedy trzeba użyć rozcieńczalnika do farb emaliowych albo white spirit.

@Big-Modeller8 жыл бұрын
Aerograf to świetna sprawa.
@wykolejonypociag61238 жыл бұрын

@Big-Modeller8 жыл бұрын
Do nabłyszczania paneli. To ten: www.sklep-sidolux.pl/produkt/sidolux_expert_do_ochrony_i_nablyszczania_paneli_500ml.php

Jak używasz Tego sidoluxu ? Jak go rozcieńczasz i czy pod pędzel się nadaje bo go nabyłem w sklepie za 11 zł.
@Big-Modeller8 жыл бұрын
