Great short history on the civilian Jeeps. The CJ7 was created to not only having larger door openings, the increased length and wheelbase was necessary to accommodate larger automatic transmissions which wouldn't fit in a CJ5 making those manual trans only. Own a rare 1970 postal DJ5A with rare left hand steering, 4 CYL Chevy engine Powerglide, the transmission and 15 inch driveshaft barely fits in the short CJ5 style chassis. Just now getting it to the restoration shop. Thanks
