@Steven Brown....it is a lot better to do it now because as a retired person (like me) you can spend as much time on a project as you need - to get everything perfect ! I also built these kits when I was a kid and always had an interest over the years - I started buying again about 10 years before I retired (in 2017) and have put together a very large collection. I built one of those little "cottage style" tool sheds in the back yard as my workshop. I installed air conditioner and stereo system. It is my escape from the outside world ! I don't think kids do it anymore because of the cost and they don't seem to have the patience.

I got quite rare (almost no one seen here), vintage us-model car kits part of my collection. I also got some new issues, and very many japanese kits, which isn't that asked in the us , right? I did some math recently about my anual issues, i did it with research on wp and with very realistic prices, and so i came to a quessing of 50'000$. If selling them ambitious, one for one, it's easy to get about 50 k with it. DO yourself a picture, but I'd like to sell

@@ruckusrodkustom8140 For me it would have been the aircraft and tank kits, and perhaps some of the science fiction models. I did see one of the old Gigantics kits I would have pounced on, if it were not too expensive. A lot more vintage kits than you would see at a fair in New Zealand.

@@ruckusrodkustom8140 Holden was Australian, but production ended in 2017. But it was a common make in both Australia and New Zealand for many years. There are die-casts, but not many kits I think.

These Kits We're different From the AMT 63 Impala SS Reissues the 409 Had Separate Heads and intakes a Optional Race Hillborn and Stacks was included Custom Chrome Finned Valve Covers and a Few other parts were Different

@@ruckusrodkustom8140 I'm 60 My Uncle Was 19 in 1963 He bought a New SMP 63 Impala SS kit. He built only the 409 with The Hillborn intake ,,& Stacks but Engine was unpainted white plastic. He'd Started Brush painting the Body it had Brush Streaks,& was poorly done. This .Model Sat in Grandparents Attic Where Uncle Bill's Bedroom was for 18 more years I was now 19. He Gave me This Mostly unbuilt kit. I carefully took the Engine apart m Painted it then put the Chrome Pieces Back on. Next I hated the Streaky Blue Brusk Paint so I thought about What to Do. I decided to try Fingernail polish Remover because it was made for Enamel and I knew this. Was Enamel paint. I also bought Cotton Balls. I carefully Soaked a Cotton Ball. Then held it on body to Soften the old paint then gently Rubbed it was a Slow and Tedious process but it Worked absolutely no Damage to the plastic or Details of Chrome Side molding. Next I used Flat Black Spray Paint as Primer & Practice Sapphire Blue Metallic which Would've Been Close to Factory Color Next I painted the Seats in Gloss White with medium Red inserts then I Saw a Scale Auto Article Stating this kits Value to Be $175.00 US. I freaked out. I'd been treating it just like any other model kit ! What if I messed it up. It Sat Unfinished for years. This kit had 6 red Stock Taillights & 6 Cadillac or Corvette Taillights & The tube if putty that came in the kit ! The Current 2019 Reissue has most of the parts Except the Original Engine parts and the Clear Red ,2 Taillights Sets

@@memorylanemodelcars I’ll be 60 in December. These kit were made to have fun building. Painting with a brush is how it was done. My first models were brushed in the 70s. I even got pretty good at it. The hobby has surely changed hence why these kits are so pricey because we love to have or build the cars we had as kids. I am always on the look out for the old Monogram Tom Daniel's designs. I have time-stamped several in this video. some are getting very expensive and hard to find. 9:07 Circus Wagon 9:25 Pie Wagon 15:27 Garbage Truck 18:40 Boot Hill Express (not a Tom Daniel's design - but kind of the same vibe) 18:45 Rommel's Rod 18:56 Paddy Wagon 19:14 another Boot Hill Express 19:15 another Circus Wagon 19:33 Tijuana Taxi 20:44 Beer Wagon 21:00 Ice - T 21:16 Cherry Bomb 21:35 two more Pie Wagons and another Garbage Truck I may have missed a couple but these are kits that I remember building as a kid and have great memories. Maybe I can purchase someday !
