When i went model shopping in Tokyo in 2019, I cut off the larger parts from the sprues and flattened the boxes. Most of the sprue can be discarded and the smaller parts put into grip seal bags from Daiso. I managed to get 4 kits into 1 box. Saves a lot of suitcase space. This is how i got the Mega Size Unicorn Gundam to the UK.

yep, very smart to tell UK Customs here how you circumvented their system and robbed them of VAT / IMPORT TAX etc ... including the opportunity for their buddies in all the different departments of their anti-Christian gang to snoop into your life ! Very clever indeed !

I do honestly think.

I almost did the same thing (2019), bough 1 PG (Unicorn) and 3 RG... took them all out of the boxes, used a marker to identify and opened the boxes to flat. Didnt put all of them in one box tho... i put all the pieces in the netted part of the luggage and all the opened boxes one in top of another, they came flawlessly without any dent or scratches. Arriving in my country I assembled all back together. I didnt had any issues with customs. (japan - dubai - brazil). Had to show them all the invoices tho, so they knew about the gundams and hopefully they understand that I did what I did for "fitting in the luggage".

Next time consider just buying a bunch of stuff and going to a postal office and shipping it over to your house. Shipping can be expensive but even so its still cheaper than buying the stuff in the US. I bought some P-Bandai kits for $50 that go for $150 in the US. Shoved 3 of those in a box and mailed them over for $30. Takes about 2 months to arrive but im in no hurry. I also ended up buying a suitcase and I stuffed half of it with the 1/48 Gundam Hangar kit. and the other half, the lower half had the Gundam Mk 5 which I got for around $80.

My son is in the Navy in Japan so he goes to the second hand shops or the Gundam Bases. Models in Japan are half to a third the price than here in the US so shipping 7 or 8 models cost 25.00 USPS but I still save hundreds. I don't understand these places & their shipping costs!!!!!!! There’s a Filipino-American from California who eventually moved to Japan with his Japanese wife and started his own KZbin channel, “Paolo from Tokyo” and his ‘day in the life of…’ series is AMAZING. I was in a similar situation when I moved to Thailand with my Thai wife - but didn’t have the initiative this dude has. It’s doable, but only when you’re young. I was 23 then. I’m turning 43 now and back in the USA coz I have to support my family with a job that pays the bills (and gives my kids better opportunities than I had). If you can “survive” being overseas in the same place for 10 years - you might just be able to make it. But once you have kids - the dynamic changes.
