This is going to be so cool when you are finished. Already I can see how detail oriented it will be.

That's a great looking scene you have coming together! I've always been a big fan of rail/river operations. Looking forward to more updates!

You are an artist. I could never come up with something like this on my own.

Actually I am not an artist. I have no imagination, so I simply DUPLICATE the prototype. I'm a duplicator.

Love how this is being presented. I strive to accomplish this too. Great job DJ!

An excellent start to the layout DJ. This is going to be great build to watch develop and I really like how you supplement with the small comparisons to the prototype and its history, very entertaining :) - Sim

we got a transfer like that on Birmingham Southern it is a big return Loop.

Ours is more of a switchback, but I had to model a loop to get it to fit.

djstrains I am thinking of modeling Birmingport but I am having trouble blending the seens together. because the mill and the port are 25 miles apart

DJ, Are you going to do a video on your Big Blue Monster? Great tip on the G scale corrugated material.
@djstrains10 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think I want to make another one, this one was a little tricky, and still has work to be done. I will be doing more on the docks and river though.

This is excellent! How did you make the boat pulling the barge? Do you have a video of making it?
@djstrains8 жыл бұрын
I made that years ago. No plans, just kinda winged it. I have plans to incorporate more rivers in my new layout, so maybe I might one day make a video of how to build a tow boat. I do have a video on how I made the barge a couple of years ago.

DJ, this is exactly the kind of think I need to build for my layout and was trying to decide how I was going to. I have a question - what is the round thing on the right side of the dock that is sitting in the "water"? Thanks and great vid! - Paul

CB&QGuy I think they are called Moors? They are what barges tie up against when waiting their turn.

As an engineer, do you or have you ever run trains up the old P&LE line up the Beaver River, (to New Castle)? There aren't any docks like this along that river, but I bet it's a beautiful drive, especially in the summer or fall.
@djstrains7 жыл бұрын
Thats my run, connellsville to new castle.

Oh cool! Beaver Falls is my old stomping grounds as a kid. I've ridden the old P&LE commuter train from Pittsburgh to BF--in the loco cab.
