You're videos on scratch building are always great. Their a terrific resource for someone like me who is just starting. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. Getting back into modeling after 15 years, but going for 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas. The reason I watched this and other railroading videos is because you guys come up with different ways of doing things that I can use in my dioramas.

You do have a knack for the scratch build aspect and I have learned much from your videos. Scratch building and kit bashing is about all I do now and have a blast with it. Many thanks sir.

Dj the blower house turned out fantastic. Everything from the small details to the weathering. The stairs where a nice touch. I like the patching tar idea around the stacks. I would if gone a bit lighter on the putty but turned out great non the less.

Looks great. On the gap at the top of the roof I've used a piece of square styrene to fill in the gap and it also looks like the roof has a vent. I defiantly love watching your scratch builds.

Great finish on the building DJ - very realistic. Thanks for sharing and all the best.

Horizontal dry-brushing might work for weathering as well. Dry-brushing, if used properly and correctly, will only hit the high spots on the styrene.

I love the model. I really wish you would do more scratch building projects as I learn so much from them. Thanks.

I did a whole bunch. Check on my youtube page for a section called "playlists". I tried to lump them into there for easier reference. Is there something I can make you'd be interested in?

DJ that was awesome! I’m just getting started on a Cotton Gin, Nobody has a kit for that, so I’m going to attempt doing one in HO Scale and rooftops is a challenge for me. I like the way you rolled up your sleeves and built it to your scale size. Don’t think I have ever used my brain to figure out how to put so much stuff together. You do have to use your imagination sometimes.

DJ, for the industrial door could you cut out some of that V-grove and turn it sideways to form what would look like a sectional door? I'm just getting into scratch building and not sure if the spacing would be somewhat correct to appear as a sectional door. Thanks for all of the great videos that you do. I'm trying to do some of the stuff.

I was called Red Oxide. Most of the more recent buildings you see that are red,Is for Hot Works.Blast furnace,Q BOP, Caster,Slab Conditioning, Any type of molten metal or Hot works buildings went with the iron Oxide colors.The colors Grey and White where the colors for rolling finishing Hot band shipping,and mechanical shops. Then the more recent U S Steel Blue that can be 2 shades by the way, Are for the seamless pipe divisions (Pipe mills) That was a question I ask one of the engineers ,and that was his answer to me. Thought I might try to help. Great video by the way! And a killer job on the blower house!

Found a sweet idea to combine with this project. Plastruct and evergreen make i beams. I saw ho but idk about n. But i was thinking about building the frame with i beams, paint the frame and then attach the outter walls. The i beams not only add awsome detail but they also double as supports for the flemsy styrene. Lemme kno wut u think dj

I use a lot of plastruct and evergreen. I should buy stock in them, lol.

+Dave D thats where i need help. I like that look but can't seem to paint it right.
@railbuilderdhd9 жыл бұрын
Also, when you paint think of how the item will weather. With a building like this when weathering the walls you would paint the rust and diets stains on a panel and not just paint the wall as one piece. Look at photo more than videos to research how to weather. Look at how the item weathers in real life and think of how rust will start on a seam.

Don't get me going about Walthers and their ongoing dissing of the N Scale community. I'm quite certain they would sell many more of an N scale version of such a structure than a corresponding HO one. Large industries such as steel mills are excellent candidates for modelling in a smaller scale. For the life of me I can't figure out the marketing mindset of Walthers... An excellent and inspiring video as always DJ, keep up the great work!
@TheNWPerry9 жыл бұрын
+dexterdog62 They market to what they believe is the 'traditional' market. The pity is that 'N' scale has taken over from HO owing to space constraints. Hopefully they will realise this before its too late for them.
