Excellent Reed switch for turning lights on and off. I can see lots of situations they can be used around a layout, to include coach lighting.

I am just building a two arm unit "like a semaphore signal" worked via servo's with a north mag in one & a south in the other for an on or off as the train pass's under one of the arms as my layout is a shelf layout.

Thanks for the video! I'm going to use that little sucker to energize a 20 Amp, 12v relay. Then use that to power up my ignition in my 81 camaro race car!.... No more bloody keys! That, combined with a shaved door with poppers, I'll be all set. I'm going to glue that reed switch just behind my dash board, all hidden. It's going to be awesome! Thanks

They are brilliant, I can see lots of places I can use them, just a little too expensive at £3 each. Always on or always off reed switches are much cheaper but the magnet needs to be connected all of the time for lights to stay on, or off...Simon.

Latching reed switches are a super idea. There are 3v rechargeable (or 2.7v) which, with a charging circuit can be charged without having to dismantle the coach.

I think this must be the same sort of thing that Rapido use on the Dynometer car which operates the lights in a similar way Simon, I wondered how they did it - now I know! 👍. Cheers for now. .........Graham

I I would put the track back as you are at it and my suggestion would be to put the walls in between the track and put a bridge across as you’re scene break but at the end of the day it is your layout pete
