I enjoy your tutorials very much and you enspire me every time again. But mayby i have a small tip for you. If you make a tree from steel wire you can solder a nail in the roots of the tree. Cut away the head of the nail and stick the tree in the styrofoam. The tree will stand upricht and is more solid then when you only use gue. Hope you can use this tip

Perfect, I want to make a road now! One question, what is the purpose of the passivation step? What would happen if you didn't do it?
@marklinofsweden6 жыл бұрын
madleech The grout is a concrete based material. It is prone to react with water. I’ve seen problems with white chalk marks, like rings appearing in the surface over time. The grout seems also reactive to the PVA-glue. All this is solved by a simple spray of water.

I like your videos you are very talented. I live in Sweden now after moving from UK (uppsala) and want to get back into it after like 30 years, i have space limitations so have chosen N scale for my layout. Problem is materials! Where are you getting them? I tried Panduro (the only "hobby shop" i could find in Uppsala and is absolutely hopless unless you want to paint, string beads together, play with premium clay or make predefined kits for kids). There does not seem to be anywhere to actually go, see and feel "stuff". I am not that experienced and online it is almost impossible to get a feel for anything. I looked for insulation blocks at bauhaus and the prices are huge (or more the overkill amount you need to buy) where to buy small amounts of cheap dense styrofoam? Please help :D

Very week done. Question. What was the purpose of the foam base? Could you not just have applied the plaster roadbed direct without the foam?
@madleech6 жыл бұрын
You probably could do it without the foam base, but it would be harder to build up the height and make the ditches. By using the styrofoam you only need to add a small amount of plaster to smooth out the undulations.
@marklinofsweden6 жыл бұрын
Minok1217 Madleech had a good response there.. Yeah.. It’s just ro add hight to the road without having to plaster it all the way. I typically aviod very thick layers of plaster, but it would for sure work too. It is of course preferred if you don’t have a Styrofoam cutter.

Amazing Video and very helpful, how did get the grass to stand up when you added it?
@marklinofsweden6 жыл бұрын
The grass is really thin short colored plastic fibers. They are charged in a container to 25.000 Volts. When realesed they will fly over to the glued surface with the charged end first. This makes all of the fibers to land in a vertical (standing) position. Check out item: Noch Grassmaster 2.0

Snyggt, ska testa det där, men jag skulle vilja ha lite mer textur på ytan av vägen. Fint grus och sand skulle nog göra det. Vart köper man styrofoam och ”plaster” och vad är plaster på svenska?
@jenskarlsson806 жыл бұрын
William's model trains: Sök efter markisoleringsskiva, xps eller cellplast. En skiva som är 60x120x5 cm kostar under hundringen på en byggandel. Plaster = spackel 👍

On the off-chance this helps, it looks like the following site has sheets of the ”livsfarlig ledning” signs that you can then cut, bend and trim the support bars before attaching to suitable posts? www.modellbyggare.se/signaler-h0-24754047
