Most machinist make there own parallels, even if they own a set. You use the commercial ones as masters and duplicate them as close as you can. I made one set using gauge blocks as masters and came within a tenth of a thousands of matching them. The Boss bought them off me and used them as shop grade gauge blocks.

Somehow I acquired two height gauges. Never been used because I don't have anything else to go with them, like a lathe or milling machine!

I struggled with that small hole in the back of the valve chest Keith. The drill wandered terribly.

us man's holiday a Myford ... could be worse ... could be machining parts for a pin fire sized tank or some such lol ... at least at Myford you know the tool you need is there ... someplace ;)

hmm surface grinder ... why not spray glue the emery paper to the flat surface ... spray glue the part to an orbital sander (some form of hard removable securing) and use the orbital sander to provide the elbow grease and a touch of weight ...

My way seems to work just fine, but if I wanted to waste some time, I suppose I could get the glue out ........

@@keithappleton just thinking for those ones that take forever or for large numbers of bits ... 1 or 2 ... faster to go by hand

"And if there are any mice watching this video they will probably throw themselves on the trap." You are clearly not unacquainted with Les Dawson.
