What year is your car?

So what would happen if you backed off on the throttle and put the parking brake back into neutral position instead of holding the clutch pedal in halfway?
@JonCannon3 жыл бұрын
@Teflon Bill But you could move the parking brake back to neutral while the car is still moving without causing any damage or anything?

@@JonCannon, yes. It just forces the transmission to the neutral position. The pedal wants to come up, the lever just prevents the pedal from coming too far up and stops it in the neutral position.

Seems that I am confused as to how the bands function. They do not rotate so I assume that when they are engaged they stop the rotation of shafts that have gears? I need a diagram but do not know where to obtain one.

Planetary Gears. Look for a video describing how planetary gears can produce different gear ratios. By holding the outside drum, you force the gears inside to spin faster and that's a different gear ratio. The bands are what holds that drum. Ironically, that's all a modern automatic transmission is doing...spinning planetary gear sets, using bands to hold the drums etc..

@@cember01 I found the diagram that explains "the works" but it was on a non English language site and the wording (in English) was too small to read using a cell phone. I am assuming the diagram is in the "Model T bible" but I have not seen one of those for years. To make things worse my disassembled Model TT has been stolen. I do not know if I will ever work on a T again...

Would have been nice to actually learn how to properly adjust the T transmission (eg all the bands), as the title indicates.
