You mentioned the D&RGW K37. These were the last narrow gauge locomotives used by the railroad. When the oil boom hit Albuquerque NM they needed bigger power, so the railroad converted several C-41 standard gauge locomotives to narrow gauge, thereby creating the k-37 class locomotives. There is one on loan to the railroad museum in Golden Co. if you would like to get up close and personal with one. The cab, however, is secured and can’t be entered.

When a tree falls in the forest and there’s no one around to hear it does it make a sound? Not really sure but when a tree falls on your house and takes out all the powerlines it makes quite a racket. As you may know we’ve been hit by hurricane velocity winds and all our power is off. Making commenting back to people really difficult as I can’t even keep my cell phone charged. Sorry about this but we will get back on it as soon as we have power. Stay safe and if you see a hurricane coming your way duck

I read somewhere the reason the K-27 was referred to as a mud hen, was because when the derailed, the “wallowed in the mud”. instead of rolling over. They also had a tendency to derail, because of the trailing truck design.

And while I have always found the K 28 to be odd looking but now I really like that oddness. Now as for consolations.. 16 or 19.... so different but both great!! Tough one....

What would you suggest I do if one of the trucks on my locomotive's tender is a bit crooked when I get it new from the box? The scale is On30.
@ToyManTelevision6 жыл бұрын
Sort of depends. I like one truck to be free to move around, helps keep it on the track. But the whole cars will flop around if both trucks do that. So one set up to only swivel, keeping the car level and the other sort of free to tilt a bit. So it depends on whats going on. On a tender there are electrical connections to worry about too. Mat need to just remove it and se whats up. The wires may be jamming it up.

Hi Dale, thank you for all your videos - they are fascinating especially when you visit preserved railway sites around America. Keep up the good work. 👍 Anyway, because of you I recently purchased an Accucraft K-27 Mudhen. It's an awesome model! I was thinking about adding a couple of American flags to the front. Would this be historically accurate? If so, do you know if flags are commercially available? And how to fit them? Michael 🇬🇧👍😷

I swear, Ebay is the number one stop for any good modeler looking for a great deal!! I've had my eye on the Bachmann K-27 for a while now and it's still on my wishlist. My hopes are to backdate one to it's As-Built appearance of 1903, with its slope back tender and Vouclain Compound cylinders. Albeit a slightly more freelance rendition. I can't wait to see what comes out of these two locomotives. Are you sticking to the Rio Grande prototypes? Or are you going to take a different approach also?

@ToyManTelevision8 жыл бұрын
+sirsebbystein Hi. Bachmann Spectrum. Only the Spectrum line. The rest of Bachmann is not so good to even junk. Mostly On30 scale/gauge. Which if you are starting out is GREAT. Most people want HO and if you want to do bigger trains in a smaller scale, is best. But On30 are little trains in a large scale. VERY COOL. Best HO steam is Athern Genesis. But more expensive!! But look at On30.

May be back. But much more expensive. Salaries are way up in China. And the new ones have much better and expensive drives. But if they think they can sell them they will make them.
@thelittlecamerachannel3 жыл бұрын
@@ToyManTelevision Yeah you get all sorts out of China, and if it have to be good, then even they cant make it particular cheaper than others, not least if the product are not manhandling intensive. A robot / CNC machine + the electricity is the same,,,,, well sort off, only 1 country in the world with higher than Danish electricity prices, and thats Germany. Both them and us Danes would kill for cheap American power and gasoline prices. I lost five 1:20.3 bacmann box card matching my little river Baldwin train, so now i only have a few of the wooden tip cars for my little porter and 3 flat cars for the big train + a little caboose. Most other brands with 1:20.3 seem to get even more expensive, and my pension are suffering as it is. I saw something about some new diesel locos, but i am a steam guy. Switching to a smaller scale,,,,,, also not cheap by the looks of it ( haven't looked for stuff in a while, but am picking up as friend got plenty room for miles of tracks, that is if we 2 retired guys could afford it ) G scale are NOT big in Denmark.
@ToyManTelevision3 жыл бұрын
@@thelittlecamerachannel hi. Yes sadly large scale has fallen off here in the United States as well. And I can understand why it was never that popular in Denmark, it being rather an outdoor thing, and very weather dependent. The best railroads we have seen are in Southern California. Principally in San Diego. But if the popularity comes back and if people are able to pay the prices, no doubt Bachman will release more. In the meantime there is eBay!
@warlordsquerk53387 жыл бұрын
Those 400's look nice, I have an O scale #25 myself. Beautiful engine. Can't afford the track yet to make even a simple oven layout though :P O Scale is expensive!! Then again, some of the HO prices are the same (I almost never buy new HO for that reason. Much nicer to pay $30 Aus for a second hand carriage than $75 or $150). Edit: Woops I mean G scale. Though I imagine everything I said holds true for O scale too :P
