In order to do something useful with COMSOL models in MATLAB, it is often necessary to perform the model-order reduction. Consequently, I created a video on the model-order reduction of COMSOL state-space models: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z57MlZd7iq9ki80

thanks very helpful.. i want to do simulation in which i can see the thrmal expansion of a material as the temp changes not using the power just the increase in temp

Hi Aleksandar, thank you for this informative video. I want to do a similar simulation, however I am not able to add the surface-to-ambient radiation (Radiation --> Diffuse surface) because it does not give me the radiation option when I right-click Heat Transfer in Solids. Do you have any idea what might be the problem? I am using version 5.5

Hi Ruben! Sorry for the late reply. For some reason, I did not get a notification about your message. I am using COMSOL version 5.4 (or 5.2 in some previous videos). I do not know what kind of problem you are experiencing. All I know is that COMSOL versions slightly differ from each other.

Hello good night i have a laser welding project on dissimilar plates but i have difficulty simulating this laser by welding the two materials how can i make this heat source in motion

Hi Marcelo, I did not see your comment since for some reason the notification was not working. Look at this post www.comsol.com/blogs/how-to-make-boundary-conditions-conditional-in-your-simulation/ and this one www.comsol.com/forum/thread/166262/modeling-moving-heating-line

is there a way to show how materials are removed continuously under the influence of heat flux in COMSOL. Say, for example, consider a 2-d plate(10mm by 10mm), and a heat flux of intensity 10^9 W/m2 is given on the top face in a length of 1mm for a period of 30 microseconds. Let us consider the melting point of the plate material is 1500K. Under the application of the heat flux, heat will be transferred to the workpiece and a temperature profile will be generated. How can we model so as to remove the section of the material that is above the melting point once it reaches the melting point even before the actual completion of the time frame over which the heat flux is supplied?.

I am not an expert in that field. But I think that the starting point for your search should be heat conduction with phase change: www.comsol.com/paper/download/257871/huc_presentation.pdf And thank you for subscribing to my channel!

hello Aleksandar, I need help with simulation of additive manufacturing simulation on heat transfer module. So far, I have been able to add moving heat source, but I am not able to add material layer by layer. I searched comsol website for help which tells to do material activation and deactivation, but I am not able to activate and deactivate material in my simulations. Kindly help me, I will be really grateful.

Hello Saim, I do not have experience simulating additive manufacturing. Also, these days, I am really busy, and I do not have time to investigate your simulation problem. Sorry that I cannot help you more.
